Hello all, just starting playing eve again. Did a search for the old eve playlist editor that was on the eve-i website and no luck. Anyone know where to find it or know of something I can use in its place ?

Changing the playlist is agaisnt the EULA as you change parts of the client ... blablabla ...

ccp would have to pay license fees to Fraunhofer institute if they allowed their customers to play their own mp3s with the jukebox - for all sold clients.

My paste-in answere: Everything about the EVE Jukebox

In the game's alpha, EVE's jukebox had the ability to play out of game user files, even streaming music. However, CCP was notified that they would have to pay various licensing fees and royalties to publish this functionality (mp3 license, some previous patent too I think for an in-game jukebox). At the time, CCP had no where near the financial resources to do this, so they cut down the music player's capabilities so that it could only play music from the game's own content files.

After release, someone figured out how the in-game jukebox accesses its files and made a tool to make it easy for anyone to add their own music to the playlist. It wasn't long before CCP determined that this tool was against the EULA as it has to modify the client's files to work. I'm not sure if any actual bans were given as a result, but most people decided to play it safe. Additionally, with the fact that EVE's audio system is not that great anyway nor is the jukebox functionality itself, it was always a better idea to run your favorite music player in the background and just alt-tab between the programs.

With the Dragon code update in August, the playlist tool no longer works as CCP added more security to the client to protect against modifications. In the future, it is possible CCP may consider giving the jukebox its functionality back, given their large success since release.
