..., as in in which order?

Using optimal range as an example:
Eagle HAC (10% Optimal Range bonus per Cruiser skill level and per Heavy Assault Ship skill level)
250mm Railgun II (29km Optimal Range)
Spike M charges (100% Optimal Range bonus)
Sharpshooting skill (5% bonus to optimal range per level)
Tracking Computer II (15% bonus to optimal range)

How are these bonuses applied to arrive at a final figure for the ship's optimal range?

Good question.

The tracking comp bonus must be last really as thats applied when you turn it on which must be after the other boni (is that the correct plural).

I'd guess spike ammo bonus is second from last as thats loaded on, again after the other boni are applied.

After that I'd guess it's the Sharpshooter skill bonus with the bonus for the ship being first as thats the first thing you are equiping.

The railguns 29k optimal isn't a bonus - it's the baseline the others are applied to.

Not sure if thats right but it seems like the logical way of doing it to me.

They're multiplied so order is irrelevant.

Yeah I just put the turret there so that someone could do a sample calculation with those figures.

Your guess of the order seems to make sense. I'd also like to know how bonuses (sorry, can't bring myself to say [bone-ee]Razz) from skill levels stack? Like, a 10% bonus per level to a variable that starts at 100, for example. At level four, is that 100 * 140%, or is it 110% * (110% * (110% * (110% * 100)))?

[EDIT: Leena Raphael... of course, how silly of me to overlook that fact. My bad.]

The order does not matter, it is all multiplication.

this :

3 * 4 * 5

is the same as:

5 * 3 * 4

A 5% increase equals multiplication by 1.05. ( 5 "percent" = 5 per cent = 5 per hundred = 5/100 = 0.05)

so "add 5%" means take x and add 5% of x
x + (x * 0.05) = (1 * x) + (0.05 * x) = (1 + 0.05) * x

The skill changes the multiplier. 1.1 at lvl 1, 1.3 at lvl3 and so on.

Well, hard to say if it counts for all skills, but i just checked at my ships armor:

base armor 781 * 1.25 bonus from hull upgrades 5 = 976 armor

ao, i would asume one skill is calculated in total.

Yes, every skill or bonus is only one factor, and this factor is determined by the level. If there are multiple skills or bonuses they will be multiplied.

E.g. Sharpshooter factor

Lvl1: 1.05
Lvl2: 1.1
Lvl3: 1.15
...

Multiple skills/bonuses:

Optimal Range = Base range (29km) * Sharpshooter 4 (1.2) * Spike bonus (2) = 29 * 2.4 = 69.6 km.

Thanks, that's how I thought it would be. Cheers for the help all.

And then there are some things that are calculated in mysterious ways.

Like security status where 5% increase means 5% increase of what you lack to obtain the perfect +10.

I think that kind of thinking goes around for resistances etc as well. Which makes it all a bit more complicated.

If you don't know whether the plural of such a word is supposed to be nus‧es or n‧i, just go with nus‧es. For words where both can be used I prefer to use the -es version so as not to sound like an arrogant prick Very Happy.

Actually, "perfect" is +5 in this case (that's what the maths is based on)
