Please, some of the Devs can explain what means these messages in my Log?

2006.09.14 13:49:04 Notify An attempt is underway to activate the module. Please wait until that has completed.

I was trying to activate my shield booster, doing a level 4 Guristas Extravaganza in Irjunen, only 32 players in local. Was just some minutes ago...

BTW, I have the same messages in my Log since the last patch was deployed, Iíve posted in other threads, but no luck in getting some reply from CCP staff, to clear some things, I have the screenshot with the Log so, you can look it carefully and answer my question (I can fill a bug report if you want) I donít know what to do anymore, bought more RAM, tried some changes in my computer, but no positive results. I was playing with only minor problems before the last patch, and now, a week after, I canít play the game that I love so much.

Iíve looked in the forum for some thread with the same problem as mine, I found many, some with 7 days old now, even in the category were ďknown issues and workaroundĒ must be placed, but none have answer from CCP staff.

I started playing EVE 9 months ago and one of the things that I liked the most was the fact of the Devs share with the community what was going on. Maybe this changed in the last days? Part of the community will be ignored? Donít know how many though, but seems a lot of people... Maybe some that canít have fun playing with these problems can sign my thread to finally have some position from CCP.

Thanks in advance

LAG ... those messages are quite common in large-scale-combat - it's simple lag Very Happy

I was not in large scale battle, was a simple Guristas Extravaganza level 4 and only 32 players in local, as I said in the 1st post...

Well, about being lag, I really don't know... that is why I need some direction from some of the Devs...

It means the game client has requested what you have asked from the server and is awaiting a reply but you have re-clicked the button again...

Again, this is lag.

It does not matter if there is 1 or 10000 people in local, if the node you are on is hosting more than 1 system AND one of those systems is overloaded then you will get lagg. It will also lag the whole game if the database is loaded down (e.g. bookmark copying).

Irj is sometimes laggy as everyman and their dog uses the good lvl 4 agents there (me included).

I to am a sufferer of lag. I just wish CCP would quit with the patches open up the pocketbook (like I do to plays this game) and fix the problems. If not I fear this game will end up being just a memory as ppl find other games that can offer better service. Sad

So long as I can have their stuff when they leave...

Just a question though, why did you stick "Dev" in the thread title? We have a fair sized playerbase with people who've been around since beta. Isn't it reasonable to assume that other members of this community might be able to answer your question?

My apologies if you feel like I am attacking your post, it's just a pet peeve of mine. Posts with "Dev/CCP please read" are annoying. They'll read it if they want to, not because someone slapped Dev or CCP into the thread title.

I can assume you are not part of the "fair sized playerbase with people who've been around since beta" since you had no directions to me...

No need to apologise, really, we get used to have grief and rant here all the times, just some of the players that part of the community call "fanboys" feel in the right of speaking in the name of the Devs, nothing I can't handle.

I understand disabling the damage logging, among chat and action logging, can slightly improve performance. If you're in a deadspace pocket with multiple gas clouds and dozens of frigs and cruisers, it may be useful to just kill logging.

That can be useful. Thank you for the information.

Anyways, 20-30 seconds of delay in some module activation, warping out, locking the target, etc, will not be solved with only a slightly improve of performance, I will try that and see what can come...

One node usually hosts multiple solarsystems. If there is lag 'generated' in one of these solar systems, it (probably) effects all players in any system on that node, also the solar systems that are almost empty.

How bout you've had your answer and a Dev does not need to reply.

You must understand, if the devs answer posts like this all the time, especially when the cause is common knowledge among the playerbase, then they have much less time to actually fix the bloody thing.

Don't pester them to confirm what you've been told, let them fix it.

Also to reduce freeze, or hickups when doing large missions is to disable the Effects, sound and turret effects (ctrl-alt-shift-E (Effects), ctrl-alt-shift-T (turrets)and sound you can disable in the Escape menu.

It improved somewhat for me, at times very significantly.

You will only recieve a reply from devs, if players cannot answer it.
As Laythum allready said, your question have been answered.

A more explicit explanation:

Player -> Client : Hit F1, activete first high slot.
Client -> Server : Request activation of high slot.
Server -> Client : Confirm activation of high slot.

If you try to activate it before the client recieves the confirmation, you will get the message you got.

Player -> Client : Hit F1.
Client -> Server : F1 has been pressed.
Player -> Client : Hit F1.
Client -> Player : Activation underway, please wait a bit.
Player -> Client : Hit F1.
Client -> Player : I SAID HOLD ON A FEW )"§/"(%"% Laughing
Server -> Client : confirmed.
Client -> Player : Lookie, the high slot is flashing now.

(Yes, i didn't contribute much to the thread Very Happy)

Thank you Mistica, I will try that too...

About the other 2 posts above, one saying that I already know the answer, and other saying that this is some sort of well know problem... I just ask to link, or quote, whatever thing that some of CCP staff had COMMUNICATED to the player base about what is happening, but please, keep some of that: "I could not say more..." or "I can't tell you what is going atm..." coments out of question because they really don't help as much. Thanks, anyways.

Why exactly does it matter who gives the right answer? It's still the same answer. Anyway, as has been said by others, the devs are working their butts off to try to sort these problems out.

If server says Wait you wait. You can fiddle around with client performance and wait at 5 fps more if you wish though.
