Wow, over 30k accounts logged into EVE this evening and rumors say over 700 of those were in Jita! Not bad, not bad at all!

That's not all that happened today, but all that is in Hellmar's Dev Blog. I'm going to turn it over to his Blog to explain it further, but I wanted to get a big, "Thank you!" to everyone, from the players to the volunteers, GMs to the Devs. It was a group effort getting this far and credit goes to each and every member of the EVE community.

Congratulations, CCP.

With current growth trends - EVE will have 60k in a year, but from the looks of it, with the extra publicity recently, most of the last years growth has been in the last six months... Nice work to marketing, they are doing a very good job atm - organising all these trips for devs to conventions and interviews is really paying off.

My only concern with this level of growth, is that CCP may forget what makes EVE the game that it is. Please, never shard the game, never make PVP consentual, never do anything like that no matter how many people beg for it... It will only come back around and bite you in the backside shortly after.

♥ you CCP.

Even in the time that I've been playing Eve has grown immensely, and it will hopefully continue till the day that we beat World of Borecraft.

Congrats to everyone at CCP and keep up the good work.

Deserved.

Enjoy the moment CCP, it really is pretty special.

What a ride Eve is.

Oh and special grats to Hellmar & family, and to Oveur's liver for staying with him for 30 years.

My only concern is that the code updates and such to deal with issues that ultimately result in lag aren't keeping up with the increase in players, and havent been doing so since that awful period of 100% unplayability last September-ish. This will only get worse as we get more and more players.

The other issue is the supply vs demand issue, which, if the new fixes for tech 2 supply and demand don't address properly the first time, is going to become a serious problem.

I'm not sure Testy, now that Dragon has settled down it does seem to be an improvement.

Still, let's not take away from CCP's achievement .. keep the positive in this thread, and stick the negative stuff somewhere else.

Oh, it was nice meeting you btw.

So EVE now really has around 15,000 real players! And maybe 7,000 of those are separate people, not alts.

You know, thinking about it, would Hellmar really be a 'dev'? His work is more logistical and administrative isn't it?
