What is the new mission system that is going to be employed with the new patch going to be like? Are the loyalty points that I have built up going to be wasted? Any info would be appreciated!

Afaik the current mission system for the player stays as is, it is just the system by which they design missions that will change. And as a result, some missions will be dropped.
I am curious though which missions that will affect. Only the old ones of which we got two versions currently, like Mordus Headhunters or Pirate Invasion, or other ones too? Maybe someone in the know could provide us with a list?

I hope, when they drop missions, they offer some more new ones. Most of the missions I know inside out. Doing Serpentis Duo of Death 3 times in a row is not fun - even though the last run dropped loot for over 40m isk.

As you probably noticed there was few 'new' missions after the last static updates. Actually it was missions with the old names, but they were changed. Notably Rogue Drones Harasment, or Mordus Headhunters.

Right now you can get both older versions and newer versions. After the 'dragon' patch you'll get only newer.

I have to say that the newer are generally more hard/less profitable so it'll be kind of a nerf to mission running.

I esp. hate the new Mordus lvl4. It's just do not worth the effort.

I really like the new mordus, not to hard but still not easy and you get much more isk out of it than the old one.

Yes but i can do 3-4 old Mordus in time needed to complete the new one. Not that it's hard, but it's loong, with pityful isk/hour ratio.

I have a question to the new mission system.
These r my interests : which would be better for me, if I spend my LPs to offers before the patch or hold (save) them (LPs) for the new system ?

i would save them. i don't think CCP will just throw them out. especially since some guys may have hundreds of thousands. i know i would be ****ed if i was close to a CNR and they just junked points.

All that is happening is that the old versions of missions are being deleted. Some ppl need to improve their English comprehension Rolling Eyes. Newer versions of some missions were added with the last patch, currently some missions are offered in two flavours the new and old after Tues only the new versions will remain. NOTHING else is changing.

Can you give some more info on that please? The following is from the patch notes:
Quote:
Many missions have been retired as they use code that is now obsolete. This includes almost all the courier missions.

Can you let us know what courier missions are still present? What size of cargo, etc.?

Cheers,
Arrs.

if these couple new DS missions are any indication of what mission running in Kali will be like, I'd be very disappointed. I doubt it is CCP's intention to reduce mission running to the levels of asteroid grinding but it looks like the new mission system doesnt improve it vastly in that aspect, in fact many mission runners do missions just so they can farm 50k omber and /or kernite asteroids without competing for belts that has 9k ombers.

The new mission system is in use on TQ since we've seen the first DS and cosmos stuff.

The remaining courier missions probably are those linked into those short mission series like 'War Situation' and 'Human Cattle'.

so CCP are moving towards a less diverse mission system instead of a more diverse one imo this is a bad thing (simply bring back the old missions reworked to work with the enw code - simple encounter ones are fine not every mission needs to be so complex no one can figure them out - sure have those ones but add more mission types to give us more variety not less.

Not exactly. The new mission system makes good use of a "trigger" system where invisible triggers are placed in space that set off various commands. I am not 100% sue how it works in eve but I know how it works in other games. They define an area, by polygon or sphere radius, which marks the area of the trigger. They then define an action which sets off the trigger, for example just entering the area or perhaps activating a specific module (guns, webber maybe?). The trigger is then programmed with a response. I personally think that's an amazing idea for eve if pulled off right. Here are a few situations that you might see in new missions if they use the trigger system to good effect.

There is a 5KM radius trigger were placed on a certain objective container. You're informed by the agent that there might be an ambush but when you get there you see no ships. So you approach the can and when you get within 5KM, a bunch of NPC ships decloak right beside you. These NPCs could be programmed with a targetting delay of 20 seconds (due to cloaking) quite easilly. So you have to get to the can, grab the target item and warp out before the fleet can target you or you can stand and fight them. I'd like to play THAT mission.

You are sent on a diplomatic mission with hostiles, to solve a hostage situation by trading a sealed cargo container, reports, whatever, for the life of someone or other. There's a destructable agent in space. If you talk to him and agree, it takes the mission item out of your cargo hold and puts the mission objective in there. If you ever lock onto an enemy ship (this would use the new trigger system), ships warp in and engage you while the agent flies away. When he gets to 30km away from his current position, he warps. So you can destroy him and get the hostage if you're fast enough. So there would be two ways to deal with the mission, and your agent might give you a bonus reward for choosing the dangerous one and shooting at the agent.

EDIT: Or perhaps a ship that webs you if you get within its area and then releases the web when you're far enough away. Or reactive warp scrambling where the npcs can scramble you when you try to warp.

Those are just examples of the kind of things a trigger system might let you do with the eve mission system. It all depends on how they implement it. Personally, I will enjoy this 0.0 cosmos thing if it's using the trigger system.
