Edited by: Duhmad IbnRa on 24/07/2006 01:20:12 Most people know that defender missiles are used very rarely, so i am wondering why not give the interdictors, which can mount a lot launchers anyway, a bonus on defender missile speed...
this would make them both more useful, not to say extremly handy...
what do ya think? |

Interesting idea, only thing is that the Minmatar Interdictor might need to be balanced, it only has two launchers. |

I agree a good idea, but to make defender really useful you might want to consider a bonus on rate of fire rather than speed after all most of the time I have use defenders it not the speed of the missile that has caused the problem it's the number of missiles heading my way and the slow-ish ROF that has caused the problem. |

Or you could just, y'know, fix defenders :P
Actually, fixed defenders and an interdictor bonus would be kinda cool |

Let interdictors mount assault launchers, that would fix the RoF and make em even more useful. |

No, because then you have to raise missile damage. It's not broken now, WITHOUT defenders working. Fix defenders, break the system. (plus upping the defender speed makes them hit even LESS in PvE situations..they're allready utterly useless in PvP) |

I'm really to new to this game to offer a good opinion on this but from my experience it usually is pretty silly to spend time creating a game feature and practically noone use it. If Defenders really aren't used that much then maybe this is something that should be considered even if missles and torps are good enough now because the devs stated they will make future changes to how certain weapons will work because they want us to factor in other things besides transversal or signature radius. So if these changes also include how missle tracking works then Maya Rkell's point is moot. |

You know what'd be neat, actually? Missiles do damage proportional to the HP they have left, so defenders could be set up to damage (some) missiles and thus reduce their damage output without actually having to destroy them. You could then recalibrate missile HP/defender stats to allow a gradated (is that even a word?) system rather than a binary one. |

http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/plannedfeat.asp These ideas, like taking into account heat and Star Trek level precision targetting, now that I'm looking again are on "the drawingboard" section. So I guess it would be a really long time before weapons could be affected by such possible changes. |

Defenders are the most effective with rocket launchers..... with 3 rocket launchers spewing defenders.. i have actually successfully destroyed incoming heavy missiles
mind u that was at maximum range... as soon as there ship closed in.. the heavy missiles didnt have a long enough flight time for enough defenders to blow em up...
but even then they are pretty useless.... maybe interdictors could be given a huge damage bonus (against missiles obviously) as well as missile speed.... useful idea... |
