Hi,

I found out the other day that i had a thorax in ROIR and picked it up. I fitted it like this:

Hi: x5 Heavy ion blasters t1. /Antimatter ammo.
med: web, mwd, scramb
low: RCU, 800mm plate, magstab t2, med named rep, adaptive nano.

I havent got to training advanced weapon upgrades yet, thus the RCU and 800mm plate.

Anyway, i tested the setup on a friends Arbitrator: MWD' close, web, orbit @ 1-2k(1.5k optimal) and start firing.

I missed 70% of the time even with him being webbed 87.5%, and most of the hitts dident even go higher than my Enyo's 125mm t2 guns. So what am i doing wrong? I couldent do any damage at all(not counting drones), is the tracking too bad? setup wrong or is it a skill issue?

Thanks in advance.

Was the Arbi perhaps using its tracking disruptors? Very Happy

Orbit speed? tracking disruptors? resists of target ship?

Plus you're comparing T1 damage to T2 damage. What are your medium hybrid skills and gunnery skills in general?

I've focued mostly on small hybrid turrets. But I think the shear damage diffrence of small to medium ammo and guns should be enough to see a diffrence. My Brutix with 250mm proto gauss guns at least hitt for around 100-130, Thorax wouldent go above 90 and thats when using blasters, not railguns.

Orbit speed was around 200m/s, target was completely still, he wasent using his tracking disruptors due to it being a test run for my Thorax. Yet i missed so much i couldent believe it while orbiting, had to park my Thorax completely still before i started hitting, though i dident try lower orbit speeds.

You must be doing something wrong as i rip things to pieces in my blasterrax. Or you were tracking disrupted :P

Considering your friend's arby gets a bonus to tracking disruption, I think its a fair bet he may have had some disruptors on their.

sounds like you were disrupted
use t2 heavy ions as soon as you can and drop the adaptive nano for another mag stab ... uber damage

And do not orbit @ 1km. Use "keep at range" instead. But keep in mind not to go straight for the target when using MWD though.

Tracking disruptors are the bane of blasters, fortunatly theres are two ways round (well sort of) if your using AM rounds against an arbitor don't orbit, don't keep at range, just approch and you'll keep bouncing off, with the reduced range he can't really get under your guns, at least with electrons.

Second is a t2 down grade, carry 2 types of ammo, null/void = antimatter/iridium, if you get disrupted then swap ammo, if you know before hand your facing disruptors swap while in warp or before. This time keep at range since the longer ammo nerfs tracking beofre you apply a disruptor, what range you set will really depend on how short your optimum has been reduced too meaning you have to change on the fly, practice is the only way to get this right quickly.

Did you turn off the MWD?
