hi all.

i'm about a week into my trial, and quite enjoying it all so far. my highlight so far must be the overwhelming generosity of a player who noticed my total newbieness, killed an npc pirate who was attacking me, said hello, wired me 1million ISK, then warped off! i was quite bowled over.

anyway, i have a few questions for you experienced types out there:

1: how should i spend my million ISK? are there certain essential purchases i should make? i'm currently flying a navitas frigate, with civilian modules and a mining laser.

2: who or what is BoB? from the context i saw them mentioned they seemed like some sort of mega corporation.

3: are Concord effective police? if i'm slowly chugging along in my frigate in safe(ish) space and a dozen pirate battleships randomly turn up and kill me, do Concord stand a chance of avenging my pitiful death?

thanks.

Welcome to eve Very HappyVery Happy

1. Buy all the basic learning skills and max them out also get a decent frigate merlin or kestrel and start doing missions with it
2. BoB are 1 of the superpower alliances in eve thier goal is to own the whole galaxy some say its a bit too ambitious but they are pretty optimistic about it
3. Yes Concord are the police of eve but will only help you out in systems with a security standing of 0.5-1.0 they wont respond in lower sec systems. However this does not mean you are safe in high sec systems since some pirates are willing to sacrifice their ships just to gain whats in your ships cargo hold but since you wont be carrying stuff worth over 100mil isk for a while its nothing you really need to worry about for the moment, just dont assume your safe in high sec

Hope you enjoy the game Very Happy

1) Upgrade to a Tristan or Incursus. A Tristan would probably be better for starters, as the ability to load the missile launchers which whatever damage type an NPC is weak against (kinetic for Serpentis) is helpful.

2) Band of Brothers, a big PvP alliance.

3) CONCORD will avenge your death in any system with a security level of 0.5 or higher. However, your poor little frigate isn't going to survive the encounter. (And when I say they will destroy the ship of each and every person who attacked you, I mean they will, or you can file an Exploit petition on the people who didn't lose a ship.)

First and foremost -- Get normal non-civilian modules. What do you want to do? kill pirates? kill missions? courier missions? mining? What you want to do will help determine what you should get. But by all means, stop using the civilian modules.

Bob? Never heard of them. /shrug

Depends. If you have not done anything to flag yourself as "attackable" then yes, Concord will avenge your death in Highsec, (0.5 and higher). If somehow you commit an act of aggression and get criminally flagged, then you could easily get ganked by a dozen battleships without any Concord intervention/retribution. My advice--at this stage, if someone steals from your can, let it go...if you attack them, then they are free to attack you without Concord intervention.

Also if you are a part of a player made corp, and your corp gets wardecced, then you are basically fair game to everyone in the "aggressor" corp, in any part of space.

That's what I've learned so far. Enjoy! ugh

Just a something I might modify. Training up all the learning skills will help you in the long run but will take you about 1 1/2 to 2 months to train. If you're on a trial account and you aren't sure whether or not you'll buy EVE and stick with it for 6 months at least, then you might want to train something else thats fun like skills that allow you to use that new ship or new module you wanted to try. Have fun.

Try to decide on what course you want to take in game. If you're mainly interested in mining, and industry etc., I'd buy and fit an Imicus frigate. If you're more interested in ratting get an Incursus. It will be a while before you have skills to utilize a Tristan.

After fitting either ship I'd buy the skillbooks from the learning area and get those running. It does make a difference. There's not much glory in it, but it will save weeks of learning time.

BoB is huge. Concord are effective in Hi Sec, but as with all police, they are there after the fact. You'll still die.
