Hey guys,
I downloaded EVE just the other day and my first impression was WOW! I made a "test" character and went through the tutorial and then I made the character I have now with my new-found knowledge of the game. However, I'm feeling a bit lost. I had high hopes for this game (and I'm sure those expectations will be surpassed!), it's just I don't really know where to begin. I'm floating in space and I don't know what to do. I realize that the game was built to be open-ended and truly non-linear but I have such little direction that I'm afraid to do things. Will someone help me out? That would be great.

What I can tell you, if you need any quick advice, ask in your corp chat or rookie help for a quicker reponse, You will have to decide yourself what you want to do in the game. but don't trust anyone offereing 'free' loot'

Welocome to Eve!

I think its a common situation you find yourself in - i know i certainly was a little bewildered after completing the tutorial.

I would suggest trying a few missions, and trying different types. i.e. a few combat, a couple of mining, maybe a courier or two. That way you can get a feel for the different types of things you'll be mostly doing. Whichever seems most fun/profitable to you, keep doing some more :)

Talk to people in local and in your newbie corp chat. Find a player corp that sounds like they're doing something interesting and join 'em. Cool

I am in the same boat. But I got through the tutorial and loved the game, then real life happened and I could not play for the last week really. So All I do is mine for about an hour before I have to log off. Just make sure you have a skill training at all times though.

Find the type of agent you like. Pretty much courier or killing type. I need to find a good one in the Ourssount( Gallente Maj Hub) section for couriers. I am focusing on mining and atm my combat skills leave little to be desired. But boy I have got my mining down pat so far. Cannot wait to get my industrial to get things moving better.

2 Awsome sources of info. These boards and the rookie chat. This is a great community of people that will willing help you no mater what. One of the best parts of the game.

If you are in a Corp ask in Corp chat. They are there to help you out in situations like this too.

Welcome to the game from a fellow noob.

My first piece of advice is junk the "test" character. That's what I did (with a throw-away name that I wasn't really interested in. 5 months later I'm still playing it. Now I feel like I've invested too much into it to scrap it. Laughing

You've already made the best starting decision with your newbie corporation. Simply pay as close attention to corporate chat as you can, because it is exceedingly helpful.

Be sure to do the entire tutorial.

After you do that, and get refered to Bram Vynneve, go to her station and buy yourself a shuttle to do her 8 mission series in. Doing her missions gives you a pack of standing (means better quality agents will speak to you) and a heaping truckload of cash (as much as 2.5 million with a dose of luck and a bit of persistance and retail talent).

After that, open the People & Places window, go to the search box at the top, select "Character", type "Gaius Sejanus". When my name comes up in the little box, right click it and select "Show Info". In the info window, click on the "Bio" tab on the left side of the screen. Read my whole bio. It's got a fair amount of extremely FAQ'd topics that the tutorial does not cover at all and everyone should know.

I think that happens to a lot of us... Just another little bit of immersion courtesy of CCP. Very Happy

Feel free to drop in the Eve University (the chat channel) There's lots of helpful people in there and things don't scroll by quite as fast as they do in the regular Rookie chat.
