Next time, buy one in high sec, not in low sec.

But there's no risk to try: go there in a noobship, and if you get killed, you lose...a free noobship.

There are mostly only two options dying within low-sec due a other player.

1. due a pirate within a belt (you hunt or mine being careless)
2. due a gate camp, in low sec there are still sentry guns guarding the gate => the camper has to tank the sentrys or sniping at long range => that all is only provitable, if much people useing that gate.

For you the option 2 is something you will have to be concerned about. Check the "destroyed ships within the last hour" option when you look at your route to that location you are traveling to.
If there are at one point increased numbers shown, the reason *may* be due a gate camp.

Well, I remember very well being killed going into a station in low sec when I was a noob too (doing a level one courier mission). So there is a

3. Going into a station

which our friend can worry about. But Dark's right - he will never again have so little to lose. And actually the worst case is not losing his noob ship, its losing his new ship on the way out. In which case he'll still get a new noob ship and can buy the next one in high sec.
