I think that players should be able to make themselves invisible to other players in local chat. This would be helpful becuase if you are wanting to avoid somebody you could choose not to be seen in local and they couldnt see you. You could also choose to only be seen by people who you deem as friendly or by members of your corp or allaince.

This would make it easier for people to mine in lower sectors, (pirates and such can tell if your there through local) but it would also make it easier for pirates to ambush people (like if a convoy was going for a gate they wouldnt know pirates were there until it is too late0.

The whole local concept is pretty bad, if you ask me. Why should we have a cross-system insta-scanner?

I think you should only be visible when you write smth, like on delayed chat channel.

Even more, I think that even the number of players in a system shouldn't be displayed.

I've been wanting to see a nerf on local for a long time. Delayed chat is good as long as it never shows you in the current system unless you talk.

It's bad news when you can see anyone and anyone can see you. Pirates can check up on targets to see if there are good pickings or if there may be a few too many good players guarding, instead they would have to take the risk. Ninja miners are restricted because they may as well wave a flag and shout "I'm over here". I thought the definition of 'Ninja' was 'invisible'. It's hardly that when someone can get almost every bit of information about you except when you took a dump last as soon as they enter the system. Pirates would have to take risks Shocked and hope that someone is ninja mining and not an entire corp with several sentries who will blow them away immediately.

Currently, the pirates just look at local and decide that someone Who has played 6 months compared to their 2 years is easy pickings, they can take them out without even reloading. I have more risk than that in highsec.
