Hi, I am new to the game and I wanted some general racial info as it relates to equipment choices. Like which races do which things best. I know that the races all have different turrets specialities, but what I wanted to know was more on a general level. Like to some races do better at EW then others? Do some do better at missiles? This general information leads to looking for which skills I should be focusing on for my chosen race. Eventually I want to get up a battleship and want to start training the skills for the equipment that will best compliment my race. Since, I just started so I am not too married to any particular race yet.

hmm tough answer.
I'll try and keep it brief:
- Amarr: use lasers, armor tank. good damage and good tanking(their high base cap can make sustainable tanks possible). Lack of midslots for ew most of the time(arbitrator is their "ew" ship). tracking disrupting is their ew specialty, powerfull against turret users. important skill trees: mechanic(armor), gunnery(lasers), engineering(capacitor)
- Caldari: favour missiles, but do use hybrids as well. Shield tank. decent/good damage and good tank(tanks well but lacks sustainability). On average highest amount of midslots of all races => strong in ew, ecm is their ew specialty, powerfull against all ships. important skill trees: engineering(shield), missile operation(missiles), electronics(ew)
- Gallente: use hybrids(blasters mainly) and drones. Armour tank. good damage(blasters currently have some issues) and decent tank(cap usage is an issue). Average amount of midslots, sensor dampening is their specialty, powerfull against all ships(long range most of all). important skill trees: mechanic(armor), gunnery(hybrids), drones
- minmatar: use projectiles and missiles/drones for support. armor or shield tank(depends on ship and fitting). Decent damage(lower in general than others). Average/good amount of midslots, target painting is specialty, no negative effects, but helps all friendlies. important skill trees: gunnery, ... (minmatar tend to be more skill intensive than other races, because of the jack-of-all-trades ships they have)

BTW nothing is stopping you to not train all 4 races, there is no limit to what can be trained, just time taken to do that, personally i'm partial to minmatar. Just that flying a junkyard and killing people is fun for me Laughing

Caldari = long range, shield tanked, missile spamming, EW *****s. Use missiles and hybrids.

Gallante = Excell most at short range enabling them to use their big drone bays. Decent with EW, decent at long range. Mainly armor tanked.

Minmatar = Do the least damage of any race but able to pick and choose damage types for the most part. Fastest ships. Worst tracking guns. Armor and shield tanked. Good at long range as well as short range.

Amarr = Guns do the highest damage in the game, but restricted to EM/thermal damage types. Guns use no ammo, instead using cap. Able to near-instaswitch ranges do to no reload time. Excel at all ranges. Best armor tankers, have the most lowslots on average.

Thanks for the info. It is good to finally understand the general design philosophies of the different races and how this would affect early on skill choices to get that equipment.
