I have a pretty decent computer
3ghz P4 (hyperthreadded)
2Gb of Ram
ATI Radeon X850 video card
SATA HD

I can play current games at max resolution and quality, but Im having probloems with eve, which is over 2 years old. Most of the time it runs fine, but every so often I have hickups when the screen freezes for 1-3 seconds. It happens during warping, which is understandable, but it also happens in mid-battle, when Im docked inside a station, and everywhere in between.

Is there a way to fix this?

Do you have the latest graphics drivers, and have you tried the Omega drivers?

Do you have Norton or any other AV/firewall in the background?

yes I ahve latest Catalyst, and 3rd party drivers are out of the question (for a few reasons).

I have Norton System Works, which comes with a worm protection of some kind.

Turn off Norton completely, and see if the problem goes away.

I think that problem is more related to the number of people playing at once in a area, rather than your systems abilities or lack of. I find it to be really bad on the weekends, when both the European and American players seem to be on at the same time.

These are not network hickups, these are on my side, and have to do with rendering of the game.

You shouldn't be getting the hiccups in a station, which is odd. EVE normaly hiccups in the following cases:

- You just warped to a huge fleet battle with 100+ people milling about (it takes awhile to load up all those ship modules)
- You just warped into a plex/mission (same as above, but nowhere near the lag :))

This is a known problem, and experienced by quite a few people (it would seem), myself included (although I fixed mine by playing in windowed mode)

Check the "Known Issues & Workarounds" for more info on it, but unfortunately there is no known fix for this at the moment.

I have this excact same problem. I've found a way to correct it though. Clear your cache in the eve directory. Do a search here on how to do that as you do not want to delete everything :) I have to do it every 2-3 days to remedy the situation...annoying as **** :P
Hops it help you too.
