Well I'm totally new to EVE, but so far I love it. What I'm wondering is what should I buy and do and such to be a fighter? I'm more interested in interstellar combat against NPC pirates and such, basically combat in general. What do I buy for a ship? I'm looking at a frigate for now. But I want your people's advice please.

Work on Engineering, Electronics, Gunnery, Mechanic and Ship skills :-)

You always want:

- Way of dealing damage (guns, missles). Various ships get various bonuses to certain ones. Read the description to find out.
- Way of taking/healing damage. This may be shield tanking (Caldari), Armor tanking (Amarr), or a mix (other 2). Look for plates, extenders, energized membranes, boosters, repairers, etc
- Moving faster or giving you other tactical advantages: Afterburners, Stasis Webs, Target Painters, ECM, etc
- Supporting your ship systems or improving them. Cap rechargers/boosters, power diags, gyro stabs, heat sinks, co-processors, Micro Aux Power Core, etc etc etc

Start with a Tier 2 or Tier 3-4 frigate (if you got the cash) (ones requiring Frigate lvl3 or lvl4). It helps if we know what skills you have for which ships (like Caldari Frigate) so we can give you better loadouts based on your skills.
