it has a password but you can't take it on a ship !
is it because corp members share a common hangar(i am not in a corp) so they can lock stuff in this container and keep others away ?

and i am as i said not in a corp,if i leave it unlocked at a base can anyone else get to it ?

thanks :)

iirc station containers were implemented for people to sort their hangars. If the station container is in your hanger, locked or unlocked it can't be touched by anyone but you.

I've heard a couple of weeks ago that you'll only be allowed 100 items in your personal hangers soon. So station containers will become very usefull.

Station containers can also be used in corp hangars. You can password them to prevent other corp members touching the contents while still allowing them access to the hangar itself.

Seems a bit strange that they chose to do it this way since anyone who wants to cause grief by stealing the contents of the container would only need to transfer the container to their own private hangar. The CEO and other high ranking members with the rights to view member hangars can see it there but can't take it back since they only have view rights but no take rights to member hangars (unless I missed something, in which case can someone enlighten me as to how to get take rights from member hangars).
