How much is travel time affected by the ships that you fly, or is most of it a fixed delay?

I'm pretty new here, and I have upgraded my ship once to a Minmater Slasher, but when running quests for agents, a lot of the time I'm having to set 5-10 jumps to get to places, and the downtime is getting a little much for this newcomer.

Are there ways to lower this downtime with different ships/upgrades, or is it going to always be this way?

People recommend not playing in 'afk' mode, but this ammount of downtime seems to me to cause this mode of playing...

Microwarpdrives let you boost your speed by 500%.

Also, kill agents only give missions within their constellation, usually 2 jumps at absolute most.

If you ran kill missions (try agents from the security and internal security divisions for starters), you wouldn't have to go nearly so far.

But yeah, the slower your ship, the longer travel takes. Though frigates tend to need to make several jumps to get from gate to gate because their capacitors are so tiny, so that makes them take longer.

are you using the set waypoint thing in the maps
cause i have found the computer does the safest route for you i had one with i think 10 to 14 jumps but when i manualy selected the route i got it down to 5 or 6
cause i chose a more dangerous path

in the map menu if you hover over a star you will see the paths it connects to just link waypointsd together manualy takes a while to get the hang of it but worth it. try the map in 2d rather than 3d as well

Just check "prefer shortest route" in the map autopilot tab. Much easier and faster than doing it manually.

If you have enough mids and are only running safe courier missions in highsec, cap batteries will help reduce or eliminate the warps between gates. An Afterburner can take a fast ship like a Condor or Executioner up to around 900m/s for a noob which is ideal for jetting to the gate after you've warped. Not sure about the Minmatar ships, Rifter or Vigil I think are the fastest base speed at 320m/s both have 3 mids so 1 or 2 cap batteries and an AB would fit nicely as long as you have the power for them.
