I have the same problem and have since reformatted and re-installed windows xp... i've tried many of the options to rectify the problem, except for the machnet folder thing...where do i get a machonet folder from!!!!

can CCP not put a working machonet file up for download everyday? for us poor souls who cannot log-in?

i have noticed that my machonet file is only 161Kb after i attempt to log-in, suggesting i'm not getting the whole file.... putting up a working copy on the patch servers everyday is not the ultimate solution, but could help keep us happy until a fix is made...providing it's the machonet file at fault...

P.S. i've used pinplotter and trace... my ping rarely goes above 20ms, I live in the UK using the NTL broadband network

I read a bit trough this... I don't have the logging in problem, but I do get continuesly disconnected (which sometimes looks like teh game freezes or a crash to desktop).
I am adding my voice here and bump this one up as there seem to be tons of other topics being opened up.

Been having this problem for well over 3 weeks now, currently about to try the machonet folder option off a friend who also plays EvE.

In all honesty though, this problem is only causing a small amount of users "Problems". I've tried everything, formatting, new installs, new drivers, new DNS, hell I'm even considering a different ISP.

CCP, to say that you haven't even made an official reply within this thread (Apart from one poor GM) shows that you really couldn't care less about a minority as long as we keep paying!! OK you are a business and out to make money, so for the month I haven't been able to play are you going to give me a refund? I thought not!!! Rolling Eyes

I am quite upset that the devs cant be bothered to look at these topics! You have a very good point, but someone has already posted that a friend had the same ISP and it WORKED for their friend. So I do not think it is related to ISP...

Some CCP Devs need to read this and sort it out! The devs obviously dont care at all about it and I am strongly considering canceling my account if this continues because looking at how long some people had the porblem well... its ridiculous that it hasn't been fixed Evil or Very Mad

Ok... now I am almost certain my router is causing this to happen (having to use another MachoNet) I was a bit naughty and used my next door neighbours unsecure wireless connection to connect to eve and download the machonet cache and it worked FINE! judging by the wireless name "linksys" they use a linksys router while I use a Belkin so I guess the problem is there somewhere...

but what?

I have looked at all my router settings and I can't find anything that could be blocking the connection not in the firewall log or any setting i can think of...ughQuestion

EDIT: I even tried disabling the firewall on the router putting myself in DMZ still no luck

Noticed I've been having problems since last patch. Just now spent 5 hours trying to log on - finally reached mining barge lvl 5 5 hours ago). Manage to log on then 5 minutes later get disconnected ...

Corp mates using same ISP having no problems ... what's going on???

...nope, still rumbling on....i've gone and ordered a new PC (it was due anyway) to see if i can sort the issue out, i'm gonna be mighty peeved if i still can't log-on after spending 1200 on a new pc...

Hi Guys,

I noticed this when I brought my work laptop home one day. On my home network, I use ADSL over PPPOE, and my ISP has a max MTU of 1480. So on my home machine, I had set my MTU to 1480 as well and all was good. But on the laptop, MTU was still default (1500 for my network I think) and it was having the stop at "authenticating" bug.

This HAS to be the same as or below your ISP's network settings, or you will have problems with TCP. PPPOE uses 1480 MTU so I suggest changing yours to that.

I suggest if the cache thing doesn't fix your problem, go to http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=157 and find the MTU key. Here's the excerpt if you cbf going to the link:

MTU
Setting MTU overrides the default MTU for the network interface it is added to. Note that if EnablePMTUDiscovery is set to 1, TCP will use the smaller value of this local MTU and the "Discovered" MTU of the underlying network connection. If you'd rather use only the MTU value specified here, you'd have to disable PMTUDiscovery, which would prevent your system from detecting the network MTU.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces
MTU="1480" (DWORD, valid range is from 68 to MTU of network).

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\<find the interface with the lan ip addy>

Note: For Windows XP PPPoE, there is an additional location for MTU that might need to be adjusted (to 1480, or up to 1492 as per the PPPoE specs), depending on the PPPoE software you use. Check the following location in the Registry:

ProtocolMTU="1480"

Exactly the same with me, only happenned since i downloaded the very recent new patch for SISI, cant log on now and ive lost about 2 days skill training time now which is a bit annoying as i dont see any dev's posting solutions here ugh

Yesterday I downloaded a patch which was 0.4 mb an "auto update" when i try and logg into the game.

Now when i download this patch. I'm having the same problems.

"Entering game as ....." It gets stuck after this.. I wait 5-10 Mins and nothing!!

I was able to logg on yesterday and now cant!!! Please Help!

I'm very sorry but you will have to reinstall eve :(

But we have removed that patch from Singularity that broke the client so it won't pop up again.

However I'm sure this would have caused quite alot of hassle for some players and espescially me.

I'm on a 512KBPS broadband.. It will take me a while to download the game again :(

Seriously the patches need to get tested before they are actually released. It will cause alot of frustration in the customer base!

This is the exact problem I have. D/L and first started playing 5 days ago so i must have the most recent patch. Haven't reinstalled yet. AMD 64 3800+, 256 PCI-E Geforce 7900, WinXP sp2, 6mb d/l.
I see this has been a problem since before march so I hope someone has a better fix than reinstall weekly.

I have the same problem. Yesterday everything ran normal, never had any problems.
Hardware and software are unchanged since yesterday.

Problem: After authenticating EVE displays a "logging in" message and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

HELP HELP - I have 4 accounts and all have been working fine for months. Suddenly, justover this last weekend, I was repeatedly disconnected from my main toon while in space. I received two different messages. One for three disconnects and one for the other disconnect:

- TransportReader is shutting down - an unhandled exception has
occurred.

- TransportReader shutting down - a bizzarre low level exception has occurred.

Also, I had to actually ESC>QUIT myself out of game 2x because I got hung up: Once I jumped, and my screen remained showing system I had left (customs still flying around gate, but me not there and it still saying JUMPING) and once when I was docking (screen froze in blackout mode in docking transition).

Is there a fix for this now?

I was having the same problem as listed above...starting with the 'bizarre' error, then getting gradually worse and worse until I couldn'y get past the loading screen (before, it would kick me back to windows every 1-5 minutes when I could get in). I downloaded the new client and re-installed...now after about an hour I am having the same problem again.

Is the game just broken for now until they can get a fix in? I can play EQ2 just fine on my comp.

Well i signed up for the trial and hit the ctd problem from the first day lol.

After installing xp twice new drivers ect ect plus no response whatsoever from support i thought id post here instead.

Dear developers,

If you cant be arsed to reply to aknowledge at least you are dealing with this issue i have no other option than to tell you.If you expect to generate custom with a bugged up game you make me laugh.Ive f***ed my xp up because of this and as far as subscribing goes well,You got more chance of kissing my hairy yellow ass.

All i see is hundreds of your paying subscribers being left out in the dark with no real explanation.What way of hosting a game is this?All those affected cancel your subs until they sort it out,why pay for no play?

If i was paying for this it would be cancelled by now as you obviously have no intention of sorting it out.I attempted to log in just before this post and suprise ! ctd in 5 seconds.

Well ive saw your trial ,****ed my pc and wasted hours trying to fix a fault that is your f***ing end.

Guys,
I used to have these problems before.
After all usuall remedies like: delete cache, reinstal eve (here i reccomend new full version - avoid patches).
Is the best thing just to let it be. :) Funny as it seems, but thats what you do:
Log in and when it 'freezes' just leave it be, don't quit the game, and it usually takes couple minutes - even half an hour, but eventually youre gonna log into eve. Next run will be with no problems.
At least thats what worked in my case.Cool

I am off on a trip so I don't know if this affects my main desktop but the 'permanent log in' issue affects my mother desktop. Interestingly it DOES NOT affect my father's laptop - an both use the same network (via my old desktop, where I have not tried to install EVE yet), but this likely means it is not a simple connection issue (why would one comp on a network be affected and the other would not?). Note they are both new installs, and reinstalling EVE on mother's desktop did not change a thing. It would be great if the developers can suggest a fix, and preferably one which is not lost in this 20+ page thread.

PS. My advice for affected people: try installing EVE on a new comp :D Anybody tried a complete system reinstall?

Hey guys, just so you know, ive had a very simalar issue to you guys, i get stuck on logging in at the point of "Aquiring Bulk Data" and has been unable to get in since, and its only my 2nd day! im already getting withdrawrels and i cant get in! i am going BALLISTIC!!! i do not have the mental capacity to even allow the fact that, I MAY NEVER PLAY EVE AGAIN! because there are many other people with the same issue as i have, we all try the machonet fixes, we all are pretty much doing the same stuff you guys are for your problem. so, were not alone, we have 2 big groups of people, same/similare issues. and NO FIX! CCP has ran this game for over 4 years and yet they still dont have a clue how their own systems work. for somthing as small as a little file to not work, is OUTRAGEOUS! why havent they given us a link, that we can manualy update our Machonet files with? so we can actruly get the newest files without havign to leach off others? they, seriously havent had the mental thought, let alone the will to do anything, to fix this problem.

I, am so ****ed off, and i agree so much to all of your issues, that they MUST BE FIXED!!! and that for such a problem, at this magnitude. why, the hell, havent, they, ****ing, fixed it yet. i demand AN UPRISING! does anyone know the phone number to CCP's Hq? so i can get, be on hold for 3 hours, and then rant and rave o at them, argue for my moneys worth until they are FORCED by my insane Screaming for Retribution! that they ACTRULY GET UP OFF THEIR ASSES AND DO SOMTHING!?!
