It seems I have been bad and have disappointed several agents by not accepting missions after I double clicked on them.

If I click on a agent, does that mean I must accept his mission and complete it or else I get a bad rep with them? And if yes, should I just re-roll this toon rather than trying to get up from .12 ranges?

If you ask an agent for work, you generally have a week to accept the mission.

If you accept a mission, you generally have 24 hours to complete it.

If you find that you cannot complete a mission, let the agent know you are not interested before it expires. You can safely do this every 6 hours with no loss to standing.

You definitely don't want to let your agents down by asking for work you don't intend to complete promptly.

It's every 4 hours for rejecting a mission. But as long as you don't click "Accept" you won't take a standing hit. If you do click it and don't complete it, you'll take one after a week when the mission fails.

Well, my journal had 2-3 listings in there, in yellow text, that were offered but I hadn't accepted them. So I just ignored them and took a hit when they sent me emails yesterday saying they were disappointed in me. Well, guess I need to grind some missions now Smile

I must ask something, which I dont think needs a new thread.
When do I get access to level 2 missions, and how do I know
when I have access to them?

Did you finish your tutorial missions?? If you did, it doesn`t take many missiuons before you can use L2 agents
Btw, its standings with your race that count, NOT how high a faction you get with any particular NPC corp..

I am Minmatar, but I moved into Amarr space because of the corporation. So I guess I have to do more level 1 missions for the Amarr since Amarr hate Minmatar. But how do I know when I can use lvl 2? Do I get a mail or something? I don't want to keep doing lvl 1 if I can do lvl 2.

Too bad faction standing takes forever to raise.

That's not entirely correct. As soon as you ask "Do you have a job for me?" a mission is offered to you. You have a week to acccept it - if you don't, then you take a standing hit. Once you accept a mission, you have 24 hours to complete it. Failing to do so will result in a standing hit.

Don't get the impression that you can ask for work and diregard any mission you don't explicitly accept - that's not how it works.

so if i want to do higher level with any corp in amarr space it depends on my amarr faction standing? how about if i want to do khanid empire higher level missions?

You can raise standing with an individual corp by doing missions for its agents - this will give you access to higher level agents within that corp only, as well as a small amount of national standing.

Or you can raise your national standing, which will allow you access to agents in many corps, but this is a slower process.

The formula used to calculate the minimum standing needed to access an agent is calculated as

Quote:
standing = ((agentLevel - 1) * 2) + ((agentQuality * 5) / 100)

So, to use a level 3 quality -12 agent, you need a personal, corporation or faction standing of ((3 - 1) * 2) + ((-12 * 5) / 100) = 3.4. That is, you can either work you way up in the corporation to gain a corporation standing of 3.4. Or, you can raise your faction standing to 3.4 by doing missions for another corp and then do the storyline missions you get offered from time to time.
