It is taking me days and days and days to research skills. I know this is to be expected but at only a week into the game, I've got skills taking 8 or 9 days to train!

Do the "learning" skills have anything to do with speed: Willpower and such?

I'm on lvl 2 Empathy, Instant Recall, Iron Will and Spatial Awareness and lvl 3 Analytical Mind.

Do these need to be much higher? :)

Yeah. I got those all to 5 (except Empathy) and the advanced versions to 4 (for a total of +9 to the important skills). It's a really noticable difference in training time.

Skill training time in minutes = (Points to train) / (primary attribute + secondary attribute/2)

Don't get them all to 5 initially (train other skills too!) but make it a long-term goal.

It's a pretty good idea to training the basic learning skills to level 4 as quickly as possible. These increase your attributes, which decreases training time.

Theoretically you could train the advanced skills to 5 before training anything else for optimal training times, but you'd probably be pretty bored of the game if you did that.
