What is more effective against non-BS sized ships?

damage of cruise is 2x that of a heavy, counting rof that boils down to about roughly 60% more damage

How bad is the damage reduction due to signature radius and speed when fighting Cruiser rats with cruise missiles?

Is there a point in using cruise miss. vs. cruisers rather than the bigger range?

Just use a target painter and sensor booster and watch a lot of problems dissappear.

Dps/sig radius
Here is a graph that show you the dps of different launchers against targets with different signature radius. This graph is with Guided Missile Precision level 5. If you do not have that it will look a bit different but not too much. Mostly everything will be moved a bit down to the right.

As the graph shows, I prefer cruises against cruisers since a TP will help a lot. Plus they do great damage against BSes.

Heavies need some lovin (but not too much).
