I got 1.9mill SP, and I recently upgraded my Bellicose for a Rupture. At the same time I had enough standing to work for a low quality lvl3 agent so I thought lvl2 was a bit easy and lvl3 should be more fun. Boy was I in for a surprise. I managed to escape, barely Laughing

I must say, the jump from lvl2 to lvl3 was a tad high in competition. I know there are probably people out there with lots of SP that can solo lvl3 in a Scythe if they have to, but I really got my arse handed to me. Dunno if I'd be able to do them solo in a Battlecruiser. Laughing

Ouch, yes the jump in difficulty is quite high from two to three, similar to the jump from three to four so remember that when you think threes are getting easy.

There are a few cruisers that can handle level threes however. The Maller and for now the Thorax at the least, there's probably a few more that can mount a sturdy enough tank to work for them as well. For threes the majority of agent runners tend to use battlecruisers as far as I can tell with cruiser, AF, HAC, and BS pilots in the minority. For the fun factor, I wouldn't trade my Harpy for anything in the world. Being able to drop even low BS spawns is a blast well worth the pricetag.

Lower quality agents on level threes will mean slightly easier spawns with lower bounties and much lower rewards, bonuses, and LP. Get yourself a good quality agent as quickly as possible. If you're after a certain type of LP reward, then look for several good quality agents within a few jumps of each other.

Hehe, well I have decided that I will only fly ships and use guns of my own race so I guess I'm ****e outa luck then. Ahwell, I'll try with a Cyclone when I can afford one Laughing

Had the same problem, read on the forums how level 3 are easy for cruisers. That wasn't the case for me, I also had alot of trouble doing them in a BC. I eventually saved up for a BS and that made them possible, The irony being by the time I had enough ISK for A BS I also had enough Sp's to complete the missions in smaller ships.

Lesson = Can't win don't try

I went the oppisit route
smaller > bigger for lvl 3s
I went for an assault frig, they are cheaper than battlecruisers(a bit pricey if you lose them tho), can tank like demons, and pack good firepower(with T2 weapons) and can handle most lvl 3s suprisingly well

Exaclty right, I wanted to do all my learning skills before I started down the assualt road. But Since I got my little assault frig I do almost every lvl 3 mission in it.

I had a similar problem. Once I had the standing up I decided to have a go at Lvl III's in my Prophecy (Named the Budgie of Doom!) and I had a hell of a time. Initially I also had trouble with my Maller as well. Well....after a few weeks of frustration I got into a retribution and never looked back.

The only problem I have now is if I don't have a webber when a Ripper Drone gets a tight orbit on me and web/scrambles me. My Medium Pulses cannot hit too often when that happens.

So in a nutshell....get an Assault Ship and you will be fine.

I used to use a Ferox battlecruiser for lvl 3 but after then missile changes, I found that I was having trouble with them while I trained my skills.
I bought a Raven and now lvl 3 missions are a piece of cake. Decided to try lvl 4 mission. Got blasted to hell and warped out with 10% structure remaining... Im now training for assault frigates to add some fun into doing lvl 3 missions. I guess I could buy a battlecruiser now again, but I wanna try something new.

I trained my learn skills to 4, trained for my enyo, then alternated ship skill learning skill till I started training for HAC's

Mind me saying some missions can be well done in a tec 1 cruiser, I use my Stabber for missions like Retribution, Damsel and one other (dunno the name).

But there is something seriously lacking between mission difficulty level and I have been saying this since the release of Cold War.

Level 3 missions should be ALL challenging in cruisers, but NOT IMPOSSIBLE. For Battlecruisers lvl 3 missions should be just doable, in the sence of not realy easy but also not to damn hard.

This trend should be followed to level 5 missions and I pity that this isn`t the case at the moment.

There are plenty of lvl 3's that can be done in a rupture you just have to avoid some of the harder ones like extravagansas and such until you have alot better skills for your rup. But a cyclone would be better for a low skilled player but still the harder missions you will have to cut it close and warp out a few times. Its all about the skills and your experiace as to how to do the mission easily.

I recently started doing LvL 3's and from what I see so far, with the right skills, LvL 3's look like they will be Breeze with a BC. At the moment my BC is moderately geared, and my skills are from from great, and I can do most of them except the really hard ones. I am sure with the right Gear layout and the right skills they will be very easy to do. currently I am on the road to max all my learning skills before I train anything else. I am in for the long haul so I figure that getting in training skills will really pay off. Especially when I start hitting that Shady area that where skills start taking 1 month+ to train.

Angel extravaganza is doable in a rupture, and with low skills. I did it having betwen 1.5m and 2m SP, and only like 400k outside learning. It's hard and long and you need to be careful, but doable (Took me 5h to do it, 'cause i was taking notes for next time, could have done it in 4h, warped out once 'cause I ran out of ammo, having taken only like 1000 EMP with me). Of course I didn't try the bonus level (didn't want to commit suicide :p).

And I had a crappy setup for this, 'cause I wanted to be able to run my tank for ever, so I had 3 cap relays in low + 2 pdus, and AB/SBII/web in med, fitted with 650mm in highs, 1 assault launcher with light missiles, and one rocket launchers with defenders.

On the other hand, I got owned on Guristas Spies (which is supposedly and easy mission), where only 3 60k cruisers took me in armor before I was in range of my EMP to hit them. Warped away and decided I'll wait for my AF to do some more level 3 missions ;). I had previously done a mission with drones (can't remember the name, but wasn't drone harassment nor the thief) with no much trouble.

Good luck for level 3 missions. Remember, the key when you don't have much skills and a T1 cruiser is tactics and to be careful. It can be a good idea to go scout the area in a shuttle the first time you do a mission (sometimes your shuttle will even survive, and when your shuttle explode, you can safely scout the area in your pod, and then come back well prepared with your 'powerful' ship :))

Yeah thank you, but obviously everybody here is talking about combat missions. What's the point to post something off topic nobody cares about hm?

Most level III missions can easily be done in a well configured vexor (a bit of an unorthodox setup, but bare with me)...

3 150 mm Railguns (Carry short range setups) 2 Nosferatus
1 AB + Web + Cap Charger (you can do without the web if you fight smart)
2 Hardeners, 1 1600m Plate, and 1 Medium Armor Repairer (II prefered)

Obviously a fairly skill intensive setup, use as many medium drones as your skills allow.

Blackmarket Hub and one angel mission however will be fairly difficult to do with this. The rupture doesn't have too much power with drones; however has many more slots, so it should be easier to come up with a good setup.

The jist of this topic is this: Even if you can fly a cruiser, or a battle cruiser, if you don't have the support skills to back it up, you will not do well. Having surgical strike to level 5 will increase your damage but take a lot of time to train. Using tech II weapons makes a big difference. These things affect how easy a mission is. Sure, you can fly a Battle Cruiser, but if you can only equip it with tiny weapons and a lousy tank, of course it'll be difficult.

I'd recommend grinding some LP with a lower level agent until *all* your skills match up with the next level of missions.
