Apparently the average price for T2 drones is 2 mil. Does anybody think it's a bit high for an expendable weapon or is this price justified by the components required to build them?

It's the market - if people pay, then it's worth it.

I for one, won't buy them at that price - it's daft.

With the skills trained they can do quite a bit more damage than their t1 counterparts. Ogre II's will do 20%-30% more damage than the ogre I depending on how high you train the specialization skill. More to the point, i sell my ogre II's at 1.5 mil pu atm and they are selling quite briskly so someone thinks they are worth it. At that price i continue to sell out of stock.

shameless plug i am open to orders best way to ensure you get these wonderful little dogs of war.

I won't buy them at that price, so I simply do not buy them. Once it gets under 1M each, then I'll start buying them. How much does it cost to make them? If it's over like 200K or so, then it's too high, but that is set by CCP.

Remember it's not just the cost in minerals, components, etc - tech 2 heavy drones require the builder to undertake quite an investment in training time to get the skill levels required to build these. Weeks of training for a few K ISK profit isn't going to look very rewarding to the builders.

But as has been said already, it's the players who control the price in the main - as long as there are more orders for drones at ~2M ISK than can be produced the price is not going to come down.

with high prices there will be low demand. this will lead to lower prices and more people training for them. that will bring prices to a stabilzed point.
Im not sure how much it costs to build light and med drones, but heavy's mineral and component costs are around 250k, plus factory fee's if your producing in a hub. i would say that eventualy the price of heavies will settle around 500k unless more bpo's are released.
people buying now are paying the premium for more damage over their competitors, and whith the ishtar and deimos as popular as they are, this is keeping demand stiff on T2 drones.

with the skill reqs decreased drastically last patch i've seen many other producers begin their own sales. I can say that at this point i still can't make them fast enough. The drones setup ships are great using these maybe it will help stimulate the t2 smartbomb market a bit more.

Look at what a tech II ship costs, with little insurance, and you'll see the benefit. PvP they make sense to use, and with NPCing I guess if you're real careful with them. I use tech II ships, tech II guns and yes when I can be arsed to train the skills I'll be using tech II Berserkers too :)

Is ISK that expendable?

I think the market will average out around 750k for heavies. I bought 30 wasp IIs at 1.2 mil each here recently and so far they seem to be pretty sexy. I rarely lose drones, and if I'm a little more careful than I normally am I shouldn't lose any.

since so many people use drones and since they're expendible there's a real sharp curve here. drop the price a little bit and a LOT more people will be interested in buying some. so i don't see the price dropping much

many people have tons and tons of money and 40mil for a set of drones is nothing to them.

what we may see though is named and faction drones added to the tables and that would help

There are basically 2 rules to the Eve market:

1: Supply and Demand
2: People will whine about the price of anything

You have also got to think of reality. Think of Woolworths....everything costs sixpence but they sold 40 million of them. I think a fair price is 150000Smile

Of course the price will come down. Lets say you sell 5 Drones a day at 2 Million. That's 10 Million per day.

Now, you drop the price down to 500k, but you sell 80 Drones per day. Suddenly you've doubled your income to 20 million a day.

The numbers aboce are exaggeratted some, but only to get the point across. Supply and demand will catch up eventually.

Thats all well and good, but the number of pilots capable of using these drones will probably not support the purchase of 80 drones per day from each manufacturer.

If supply is not spread across the galaxy then I guess traders could make up this shortfall - but someone's got to buy their drones as well for them to make a profit. 'Catch up' as you put it, could take a long time. In the short run if a producer sells all his stock in a day, his prices may if anything be too low (not pushing you to put them up Rawne, I appreciate your ogres!!)

hehe good to know. Yeah honeslty I've tried to spread mien around to various places. Found my niche markets and I'm happy with the results. The prices were falling but seem to have stablized somewhat. will be interesting to see as people's skills begin to catch up to use them. Kinda like HAC's maybe a bit in that as the player base matured we saw much more demand. with a consumable like drones it will be interesting. Honestly I personally hope that maybe I can get into the t2 drones/ammo business really as that stuff roles out. Oh well we'll see how it goes.

I think drones, HACs, and most thingees in EVE could be considered consumables.

by consumable I'm referring to things that get used up without the loss of your ship, ie ammo/drones etc.
