I kinda gave up on my "play eve on a hdtv" idea.. since that would be expensive and hard.. so Ive decided to just get a 30 inch sony hdtv for movies and ps3.. ect.

so I still need a pc monitor. right now im using a refirbrished 21 inch dell p1110, witch already has 2 lines running through the screen, witch arnt that noticable, but I would like a new one anyway.. widescreen one.

I was looking at a few, dell ultrasharp 24 inch ($1000), apple cinema 23 inch ($1500), and an odd one, the old sony 24 inch widescreen CRT., (but due to research I found out they are extremely hard to find, they break a LOT, and other issues..

I mainly use my pc for gaming and browsing the internet.. photoshop, games like eve online, battlefield 2, the cronciles of riddic, unreal tournament 2004, ect. I also have lots of pictures and videos.

Anyway I dont pefer lcds, because of all the issues they have, and they way they look, but for some stupid reasion everyones stopped making CRT's. witch is extremely annoying..

I read reviews about the dell vs the apple one, and it seems they are exactly the same, so I figure I would go with a dell 24 inch lcd. and run on 1920x1200 res. the crt looked awsome at first but tons of bad reviews, so Im not getting that Crying or Very sad

If anyone has some advice I can use, It would be very helpfull, im sure some other people are looking for this info too.. my budget is aroudn $1000 so the lovely 30 inch apple cinema display I want badly is out of the question at $3000 Crying or Very sad

Now I have a really really bad headache and these pills are making me very.. high I thinkk so im gonna go lay down for a while...

Oh and I need a monitor that can atleast do 1920x1200 res if possible.. Im really a fan of the bigger resilutions as im running at 1600x1200 atm.

Thanks Smile

Just a sidenote: many crt monitors have those two horizontal lines, about 25% from top and bottom. Not sure what the exact function is, but it's a sort of compromise to improve overall image quality.

But knowing that hasn't stopped me from trying to clonestamp them out of images during late night photoshop work... Smile

Hmmm. I can't work it out.

a. You're jealous because you can't afford one.
b. You've had a bad experience with one that broke.
c. You've got more money than sense.
d. You're sadly misguided.

Question

Something to do with top end aperture grill CRTs having 2 very thin wires to hold the mesh together
