This should be fun. Just been offered the 1/5 Angels storyline mission. First task is to blow the living hell out of a colony of evil miners encroaching on Angel space.

Zrakor, have the pirate faction storyline missions been changed so that their major rewards are hard coded? This first mission has a standard mission timer of 40 mins to start with. I'd hate to lose out on some nice stuff simply because of a defaut timer.

Anyway, has anyone tried this before? If so, does anyone know what sorts of things to expect down the line?

Just stormed into the first lvl of the Angels "Nomads" storyline.

Holy crap! WHARGH!!!!!!

Almost time for a new raven.

This may require a rethink.

Time to break out the tempest!

Christ on a Pogo-Stick, this is nuts.

One dead Tempest.

As soon as you warp in you are attacked by 4 scrambling frigates, one battleship and 6 cruisers orbiting at 5 km. In addition, about 30 frigates all start attacking you for the hell of it although they're about 50 km away.

In all, it's a butt-kicking. Time to bring in The Heavy Mob.

The Heavy Mob came through. Nothing like massive amounts of excessive firepower to solve a mission issue.

Mission 2/5 has the Minmatar Republic sending a data chip to the leaders of the Cartel. I have to go collect it. Easy.

I think...

Ooooohhh it's all kicking off now...

Nomads - Secret Military Supplies (3 of 5)

Mission briefing
After decyphering the data disc, we learned that the Minmatar Republic have issued a direct threat against us in retaliation for our attack on the colony in a recent mission of yours, Sabahl. They claim there will be dire consequences if we do not hand over the prisoners you captured. Unfortunately I've already had these prisoners executed and either turned into biomass or sold their organs, so we have no option but to decline their request.

Now we have to prepare for their attack. Reports have indicated that 3 Fleet squadrons have entered our territory, probably heading to where they believe the captives are being held. We must prevent them from reaching their destination in full force.

One of our spies alerted us to an old secret military installation in XX-XXX, guarded by Minmatar ships, which contains a large stockpile of weapons and ship modules. Apparently this was normally used by Minmatar Freedom Fighters to resupply their fighter ships after successfull attacks against our slave pens and drug convoys. This armory of theirs must be destroyed, before they can utilize it in their military offensive. Do this for me and you shall be well rewarded.

This mission expires at 2005.08.09 14:47:07

Overview and Objectives
The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission:

Kill Objective
Destroy the Small Armory and report back to your agent.

omg your running guardian angel missions too? I currently have 6.49 standings with them ... should have 7.0 and the ability to use the l4Q20s by the end of the week. Theres a great place with 4-5 L4 Q20s in the same stn and its ultra safe. talk to me on TS for details. Oh yeah and we had a bugged l3 the other day.. the fleet stabbers were ignoring resists... was doing the mission with a hac and a stabber cus we were bored and we both had to warp out twice. The heavy missile hit me for 900 dmg while i had my AB on O.o.

Actually, I am not doing Guardian Angels missions. I am doing Archangels, so not entirely sure why a GA guy wanted to talk to me. But I have over 7.2 standing with the archs at the moment, so more GA standing is always welcome.

As for those agents you mentioned, the archangels agents are in the same system :) But if you want to give me a hand with this mission let me know, cos I am going to need it.

I accepted the mission and warped in with a shuttle to check it out. It's a double-level mission. On the first level, as soon as you warp in, you find yourself surrounded by 2 Republic Fleet Daikanas, 1 Republic Fleet Typhoon, 9 ruptures and 5 webbing frigates. In the distance there's an equal number of the same ships which luckily do not seem to agro.

From scans, the second level looks even worse.

Not even going to attempt to solo this one. The Heavy Mob are being called out again.

The Heavy Mob came.

The Heavy Mob saw

The Heavy Mob sat back while my raven blew itself to itty bitty pieces.

Having 15 ships sitting at 2 km from your keel as soon as you warp in is a tad nasty.

Still, managed to clear the damn level eventually. So far I am down to battleships from this little venture. Something had better turn up to make this little escapade worthwhile.

4/5 - Nomads - Vicious Attack

Yaekun Ogdin has been flying around in a souped up Typhoon doing all sorts of nasty Minmatar Freedom Fighter nastiness in Angel space. My mission is to get in there and tell him he's a very naughty boy. No chances this time though.

Shuttle scouting shows that the warp in point is FINALLY a decent distance away. 50km from the fray to be exact. However, the large amount of Freedom Patriots and Freedom Liberty ships firing silly numbers of EM damage at me soon prove to be more than my poor Tempest (mk 2, with added tech 2 goodness. Can you survive that 17x damage multipler from my 1400s? Want to try?) can survive easily. The tempest goes back into storage and a New Approach is attempted.

The end result?

Ogdins Eye Coordination Enhancer
Cybernetics Lvl 3
Implant slot 7
"Improved ability at hitting fast moving targets.
Grants a 6% bonus to weapon turrets tracking
speed. "

Now that's a bit more like it!

Oh my god...

Quote:
Mission briefing
The Minmatar squadrons have arrived in Hale, and they mean business. We've been avoiding
them thus far, but we can't ignore the threat they pose any longer. We arenít aware of their
destination, but our spies have managed to locate them in a remote deadspace pocket in
xx-xx6. Apparently they've been moving through deadspace to escape detection and our
long-range artillery, although it would be foolish of them to expect to remain completely
undetected in our backyard.

There is not much that I can tell you about their forces, other than the fact their commander is
a seasoned veteran of the Minmatar Fleet. I am not familiar with their combat ability, and
therefore I would advise you to hit them with everything you have. Do not underestimate them,
bring everyone you can muster with you. This is no small task, even for you, Sabahl.

This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.

3 gates, and a ridiculous number of ships. Truly ridiculous. On scanner I have counted about 10 tempests including 6 darkanas, 15 typhoons, 20 ruptures, countless frigates and this motley crew sitting at various places around the area...

Commander Pachtari Mogun
Captain Kali Midaz
Republic Fleet Squad Leader

Midaz and I have an old score to settle. I first encountered him way before Shiva. He used to drop nice implants. Wonder if he'll put up this time.

But that Commander Pachtari Mogun? Never heard of him before. He's probably a real git as well!

Anyway, first warp-in point is right on top of the first fleet of 4 so I am off to fit up a raven with smartbombs again. That'll learn them! :D

may i ask who is the heavy mob lol - good luck some of these missions are just total co op anyway or warp in warp out but having NPCs ignoring resistances - seems to be a bug that can be petitioned is not a good setup from CCP

It's OVER!!!

After a bit of extreme tactical analysis and a lot of ship jumping I finally took down the final stage of this storyline with a corpmate. 3 levels of nasties, including the original warp-in bunch. One Stiletto and one Claw bit the biggy on the way but they were acceptable losses for a level like this.

The end result was satisfying though.

1 Minmatar Fleet Kinetic Hardener
1 AX-1 Gunslinger implant - +3% to all turret tracking speed
1 CX-1 Gunslinger implant - +3% to all turret damage
1 SX-1 Gunslinger implant - +3% to small projectile turret damage
1 LX-1 Gunslinger implant - +3% to large projectile turret damage
A metric buttload of loot, and over 20 mil in bounties.
+10.5% Guardian Angels standing and +2.65% Archangels Faction standing

Plus all three of the super-rare tags needed for the archangels offers.

And I never, ever want to see this damn storyline mission sequence again :P It was bugged to hell and back (and, in fact, pretty much only completable because it was bugged), the ships were placed absolutely horribly and it took a monstrously long time to complete.

The final question, though, is why was there a Bood Raider Human Farm in the final stage of the final mission, hiding out with the Minmatar Freedom Fighter outpost? That one dropped 10 freed slaves. Very very strange.

lol, everything went fine up untill the 2nd level of the 3rd mission, my ishtar lasted about 11 seconds and my support dominix about 13.
Instant agro of about 1000 dps spread over 4 damage types is not a lot of fun Sad

Funny side note; The mission reward is 700k, which is about equall to the easiest level 4 missions...

Destroyed items:

Type: Medium Armor Repairer II (Fitted - Low slot)

Type: X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator (Fitted - Medium slot)

Type: Medium Armor Repairer II (Fitted - Low slot)

Type: Cap Recharger II (Fitted - Medium slot)

Type: Cap Recharger II (Fitted - Medium slot)

Type: Large Peroxide I Capacitor Power Cell (Fitted - Medium slot)

Type: N-Type Thermic Hardener I (Fitted - Low slot)

Third time for this mission, now. Which is a shame cos I wanted to save my important mission for Thukker to activate the Agent In Space. But what the hell. This may well give me enough standing for the Angel agents instead.

Either way, I think I may have had enough of agent running for some time. I have bigger fish to fry Very Happy

Fantastic! Just confirmed that this mission is still in after the Dragon update.

Unfortunately, it's not me who's running it ugh
