Regardless of what you do in the future, PLEASE make some distinction between character 'classes'. At the moment with attributes influencing only learn times, every character is rapidly heading towards homogeneity. Two weeks into the game you're the same shade of grey as EVERYONE else.

At least make one skill the sole domain of each school. E.g Research for scientist specialists. (With maybe reverse engineering hanging off this as pre-requisite). E.g Limit any BShip skill to pilot, warrior specialists.

If not, at least use attributes to somehow shape what can be done by characters, and while your at it, introduce some race specific skills or limitations.

Please don't squirrel this away in the chin stroking dept (aka "ideas lab"). This is important and needs to be thought about now, before you start flogging the remaining skills on the market like you're raising money for charity or something.

Yours in all sincerity,

You know those skills packs you cant seem to find anywhere but you can start with? Theres your answer, they need more skills like that.

I am opposed to any strict limits. However, I would like to see race specific skills take longer to learn for other races. Caldari frigate should have a multiplier of 2 for Caldaris, and a multiplier of 3 for all other races...

The entire point of this system is that people will be able to do everything
Focussing is still an option, you jsut have to choose it :)

Scragg, the point is they are going to make the whole lot available, cos its "unfair" that someone who specifically DECIDED during character creation to be a gun-jockey should now be able to run a high efficiency lab and factory singlehanded. This is rubbish, people already have three characters to play with (something else l disagree with but nevermind). There is nothing wrong with making clear distinctions between character 'classes' and races. Show me ONE other game that leads all players to end up **IDENTICAL**.

Ultimately there is no distinction between starting points. Discorporation, although l understand your point, it undermines the tapestry of the game. We ARE all going to end up exactly the same as eachother. How thrilling!

Agree 100% with this issue.

We need more items and skills that require level 5 in one or more skills.

Hopefully this can be adressed when the next tech level is revealed.

I would also like to see more distinction in the different professions.

I do understand the desire to have it where characters can choose to be anything they desire, but it should be take a long time to make a career change. Let the skills be readily available, so one can change their path at any point. Implement changes, so only after a long time of focused learning does one truly gain a large benefit from the skills they have.

The present system has very few skills which require high level prerequisites and even then, a majority of the bonus is gained during the first few levels. Perhaps introduce items such a Mining ships specialized for mining which require level 5 Mining and Miner Piloting (a skill based upon Memory and Intelligence versus Perception and Willpower) or blueprints which require an Industrial level 4 skill and Cruiser Construction level. These would no prohibit anyone from choosing the path, but would start to create more advanced roles which certain individuals are more optimized to fulfill.
