How do ppl feel about this??

OK - this has a lot to do with bookmarks....

1 - it is WAY to easy to get around.... i click on a star system on the map - set waypoint --- and autopilot there...

with a system like thi, there is effectively NO unknown space.

What is needed is to make travelling to new places harder - while keeping travelling to knmown/visited places just as simple as it is now.

would it be possible to make the map on a player-basis.

ie - whe you start the game, there are NO links, known information, etc about any of the star sytems. but make mookmarks UPDATE the player map..

ie - starcharts etc.

"astrogation"?

so - when you see a new stargate, you click "add to starcharts" (ie, keep location) and so you can use that stargate with your autopilot to plot routes etc...

you can also sell/buy these bookmarks and starcharts. Say, when you wan to join a corp, your CEO will give you a package contining the route from the starter system to their HQ. yu can then follow that path to get the hq.

theoretically you can find every ore field, planet, station in existence! (by looking/searching on the map)
this would make selling bookmarks IMPORTANT (not just for sightseeing.., but really needing them to get around)

already you keep data on systems visited - this is just more detailed information....

this will have the added benefit(?) of keeping people in tighter - more room for PvP :)

Cool idea. But that is something that needed to be considered before the game was even created. You couldn't implement something like that later.

But ccp could make an uncharted territory, a jumpgate which was recently built and would but you in an uncharted territory which you would have to explore.

Knowing where the stars are isn't the problem.

Its knowing whats in the systems - such as station count, numbe rof pilots, ships destroyed and so on and so forth.

The galaxy map should not show such data for any system outside of Empire space. That it does is far too much of a "giveaway" too encourage explorers and hide remote locations.

Outer region data should only beavailable once that system has a space station in it and that station (NNPC or PC) includes itself in the galactic data.

Thus a pirate PC station, being the only one in a system, can chose to exclude itself from galactic data and no information on it will be available.

The way everybody can see everything atm is a woeful waste of potential.

That's what they did in Earth and Beyond. Also you got some experience for every station explored.
Can't say it was really fun though, seemed a bit too artificial.

I don't see this feature as being very compatible with EVE either.

The idea triggers an interesting question on exploration though.

I think it's more fun to know where things are just as it is now, but have systems with more differences, for example different concentrations of ore, more variety of pirates and loot, etc... Thus making exploration, REAL exploration, a fun and rewarding thing to do, instead of something artificial and sort of mandatory as it was in E&B.

Maybe they can't do that now, however if they ever intend to extend the space and add more unknown space then they could implement this idea :)

I personally like it.

I think there should be no jump/star gates in new systems. You have to get there by either warping in random directions or using a ship with its own jump drive.

Once you find somewhere new, you get others in your corp to arrive and help build a player owned stargate.

Details of how this will work would need more thought, but it would make the universe more real. Some corps may have explored a lot, others only a little. Players could sell maps/bookmarks etc :)

Not going to happen. Don't waste your time posting ideas, the devs will never care. I've tried posting coutless ideas, some of which were very similar to yours. CCP just doesn't care, so to save your self some time and effort, I suggest that NO ONE bother writing ideas on these boards... its just a waste of your time. This isn't a flame ( I like your idea), I'm just telling you the facts.

...and after that post, I'm just going to jump out a window. Whats the point to even living? I'm going to die anyway and no one cares.

Most of these ideas CCP has probably already thought about themselves, they just weren't implemented for one reason or another. Other ideas are actually on the slate to be put into the game at a later date and most of what you see in-game right now is just temporary until it's completed.

CCP already has a vision for the future of EVE, we're just along for the ride and ideas by players usually don't get implemented.
