Hey all,

Just wondering, the problem that exists with people stealing from cargo whilst mining is generally answered with well don't jettison it.

But what can you do about people who warp into a system while your fighting 4 or 5 npc pirates and start stealing all the loot?

Your the one been targetted so you have to kill the pirates, which means you can't quickly collect the loot... so the player gets away scott free.

This happened to me the other night, and I've just seen a player in a system I was passing through have the same problem..

Any ideas peeps?

Multi tasking.

I put my secondary weapons/drones on the priates and my main guns on the thieves.

120 damage per hit is normally enough to drive most people away.

yes but unless your in 0.0 space you can't target and shoot at the theifs without sentry guns opening fire.

Thats the problem :( In 0.0 it wouldn't be, but I can't venture there just yet as I'm not good enough

I was mining and noticed an industrial being attacked by pirates. I had weapons so I dealt with them. He then had the cheek to moan that I had nicked the pirate goodies. He did'nt have any weapons to engage with. There are some whinging gits out there!!

Did they put sentry guns in belts ? Or are you pirate killing at gates ?

Or why have you problems with sentry guns opening fire whilst you shoot at the thief ?

It's when coming out of a gate. But even in asteroid belts its the same, if you open fire you take a security hit and then can't even return to the station to drop off your loot assuming you've any left.

So the theif gets away scott free.

Yes... declare war! That's the answer... Chances are if they are a thief, they aren't in with a big corp anyway. If they are, report them to their superiors. If that doesn't work, post here in the criminals and punishment forum, asking for their head on a stick. Thieves are a role, just like pirates or smugglers or hunters... they have their place (albeit not a very profitable one). You just have to fight back. Attacking their reputation is about all you can do until CCP can figure out how to put in a security hit for stealing.

I, myself like the idea of warp scrambling them until they pay you for the loot they stole... Of course, with the patch this is not really an option anymore.

yes I agree, i was not complaining that my cargo was stolen... I want theives in the game, I want pirates. They give this game atmosphere :)

I was just asking how other people deal with them :) I've plenty of options now :)
