I'm not limiting the definition of "PvP" to killing each other. It also covers, "first to market", "best efficiency and skills", cornering the market on a particular ship or item, selling the rarest items. Profit, wealth building, industrial capacity, mining management, I can go on and on.

Your vision is extremely narrow. I cannot emphasize more on hom narrow you look at this game. All you want to do is exploit others, and kill. EVE is about so much more than killing.

You are right PvP is more than just killing. However you cannot discount that aspect of PvP. Why dont you respond to some of my other points? Give me a good reason why pirates shouldnt be able to terrorize you some? Dont you see that they only add to the PvP experience.. it forces payers to team up, use security convoys etc... And for every aspect you listed, having a pirate in there adds risk and rewards to the game. Would you prefer a game without real risk?

And so what if I want to Kill and exploit others' hard work. I also work hard, and i want a little something more on the side? Its a valid line of play and shouldnt be treated as its being treated now.

Good post Othnark. I especially liked the idear of no npc in empire space, why should NPC pirates play be different rules as PC pirates. That I feel destroys the consistancy needed for role play.

Mohadeeb i feel if anybody is being slightly narrow minded it is you, the whole point of EVE is to get a wide selection of play styles. Could you see the game lasting if everybody was a trader. No did'nt think so. In fact if you look at the game box (yep thats right the one on your shelf behind the desk) you will see "CHOOSE A PROFESSION Dauntless fleet commander ,or the most nefarious pirate ever to terrorize the galaxy". Thats the point of the game "role play". Mayby you should try a different game I hear that Airport Tycoon 2 is nice and safe.

Why?

Why does it have to be more than just killing for someone else? They're not you. You have no right to dictate what Eve is to them. If his viewpoint is narrow, yours is razor thin.

I posted in another thread that people wouldn't know roleplaying if it flew up and shot them in the ass with a howitzer. The reasoning was that m0o essentially did just that and people were roleplaying without realizing it. Just from the terms they used (and you use yourself). There is no "murder" in a game. There is no "crime".

But people, with their narrow viewpoint, were so focused on the fact that m0o wasn't roleplaying that they missed the entire fact that they themselves were roleplaying. People became pirates to be better pirates than m0o. Out-killing them wasn't a possibility so they did it with more style and flair. With more roleplay.

Corps began gearing up to eliminate the m0o Menace. Not because taking them down would give any great prize. But for the reputation of eliminating the scourge of the universe. More roleplay.

If you don't learn to accept people's motives as their own motives, to which you have no right to alter, you handicap yourself. Does it matter why someone else does something? It shouldn't. What matters is your response.

*points to the don't feed a troll sign*

Just ignore people who post like Mohadeeb. They just want to fire you up.

BTW - anyone else notice if you rearrange the letters in his name it spells ME A BAD HOE.

Please continue the mostly well thought out posts.

If there's anything worse than a pirate troll it's a carebear troll. The only good trolls are ninja trolls. Because ninjas are awesome and by awesome I mean totally sweet.
