Good idea... bad time. When you see maybe 15-20,000 people logged into Tranquility I'd be all for starting up a new server but... not from scratch.

Start a new sever and let people migrate to it in order to balance the playr load. No restarts.

This would be sooo easy to do. Build your server farm. Clone the old server, rename it. Disable all the characters then manually enable them on the new server and disable them on the old server. Instant migration.

What it really comes down to is that the people that have been using the game the way it was not intended (ie: exploits, you know who you are) don't want to loose the step up they have on the rest of the players. I would welcome the restart. I have a very high level character but I can understand that if I had a chance to restart I would know what I was doing at the start. Some of you who threaten leaving becuase you spent so much time doing this or that, leave. This game should not have moved from the beta as quickly as it did. The way things are running are decent now compaired to the first non beta weeks. I spent many a night hung up on a station waiting for my petition to be read. That really sucked and slowed me down dramatically. I lost a lot of ships due to broken systems. That set me back a lot too. Talk about whiners you might want to look at yourselves (those of you who don't want to restart). Ahhh wimper wimper, I don't want to start over. My corp is getting into thier first battle ship and it kinda sucks because its cool and all to have one but a three person mining corp can't really do too much with it. Oh well guess we will be using it to mine then...... Anyway it really doesn't matter where this thread goes, the Devs wont restart now anyway. There would be way too much resistance to it. So no more thoughts of restart just erase it from your minds and forget this thread even happened. Move along, move along.

Gee, what does that tell you about people who play MMO's?

It tells you that griefers ruin thier gaming experience enough, that they are willing to totally give up on PvP, because there is so much more to the game than FPS'ing your way through the noob sectors.

I've played this game since the second day. I've been shot at by PC players, but have never shot back. I'm having fun playing this way, probably as much fun as the other 80% who simply live with PvP in this game, and for the most part ignore it, or run from it.

This being said, I agree that splitting up would be a bad idea. If for some reason this game reverts back to a noob gank fest, I'll simply leave and find something else to spend my money on.

As I've stated b4, if you want to be a PC pirate, it should be the absolute hardest thing in the game to accomplish successfully, therefore making it rare, and a challenge to which only the best stratigiest can make a living at it.

What m0o was doing was ruining the gaming experience that CCP had envisioned for its clients. I'm glad they took steps to solve that problem.

I'm not much of a PvP'er as you can tell, but removing it from EVE would kinda defeat the purpose of the game. However, I'll keep playing the game the way I want to play, and just ignore PvP until the day I get bushwacked by a bunch of cargo can lagging bastards.
