Okay, just started toying around with F0F missiles and I've been noticing a few quirks. Maybe others have noticed as well.

1) Launchers loaded with FoF missiles set to autorepeat cannot be shut off - A launcher loaded with FoF missiles will not stop firing until it has expended its entire magazine. That includes if there are no remaining enemies nearby (which scares the hell out of me as I have no idea where those damn things will go).

2) FoF missiles in flight will sometimes act like Defender missiles - I have seen numerous messages where a FoF missile has intercepted an incoming missile. Not been intercepted by a Defender from the target but has actually collided with another missile.

3) FoF missiles will sometimes attack each other - This usually occurs when there are no remaining enemies and my launcher is gaily firing off the rest of its magazine. I will see damage messages stating that the FoF missile has caused xx damage to FoF missile.

4) When using FoF missiles I appear in the threat box as a red threat - This one baffles me. My threat box claims I am a threat to myself. Though it's semi-believeable given the "Won't Stop Launching" thing. A couple times I just reloaded and started firing when I finish all the targets...Then I get to watch 24 missiles fly off the racks. Thank goodness I hunt alone, in 0.0 space and don't use drones.

Anyone else noticing any quirks?

I noticed last night that defenders were not working all of the time - I'd fire off my defender at an incoming missile and it would have no effect. I did test this somewhat with the following results:

1) Defender missile launches, flies toward the enemy missile. Defender then comes back toward my ship and then shoots off at a 90 degree tangent and explodes a few seconds later.
2) Enemy missile hits my ship...

It didnt matter at what range the enemy missile is from my craft - I fire the defender and it zips back and forth, then shoots of to the side of my Osprey and explodes.

I haven't tried FoF since the patch.

just wanted to point out that the defenders did work a couple of times, but once they freaked out, they stayed that way.

Yep - I've noticed a few of those things:

1) Yep.
2) Not yet.
3) Not yet.
4) I've definetly had this.

Interestingly enough - both those things happened when I successfully used FoF missiles without actually having the FoF skill trained! Maybe this is something to do with it?

Heh, the *one* time I autofired FoF's, the first one out hits, then my gang-mate pops the target...

can we guess where the next two missiles went?

I've noticed the threat box thingy, but I've never had an FOF go after another missile, at least not that I can tell.

Another thing a corpmate pointed out is that FoF missiles will target you if you are targeting the launcher. For instance, if I have a tracking link on a corpmate who is using FoF missiles, they will target me.

I think I'll rename mine to FtF missiles. Friend to Foes.

i dont use them. they have less damage, less range, less speed and higher failure rate than standard missiles. i will keep my heavy missiles and cruise missiles, thank you very much.

The catch is they have a much smaller blast radius than other missiles. Which is useful when fighting with gang mates and drones.

Downside of course is their quirks and damage amount. I think CCP forgot to boost them in the last patch (a FoF heavy does half the damage of a Heavy Missile?) :P

if we have other players at stake i do not use missiles at all. in fact i have come to realize that missiles are effective in maybe one out of ten situations. they are too slow to attack pirates with, they are dangerous to everything around them, they cost money, they can be shot down, they have limited range, they can track the wrong targets (FoF) and they take a lot of skill training. i think i will go with an amarr apocalypse and deck it with heavy modulated beams. wont have to worry about ammo or missiles or tracking.

right now i have a moa and a caracal, missiles are powerful but to use them..... you need the person to be near motionless or webbed. most everyone just runs now. NPCs dont warrant their usage either. it depresses me because one day i think they are great and then i try them, and realize they didnt work exactly as planned. i keep telling myself i am using them wrong.... dont know how long i can keep saying that.
