I don't spend a lot of time in the forum, it's too depressing, so maybe I missed it somewhere.

Can someone please explain to me that might know, what is the plan with asteroids respawning?

I mean, a player can almost be guaranteed to find a factory now that's relatively new, and I think CCP did great in this part of the patch... but I'm wondering if the only rare minerals soon will be way out where there is no stations whatsoever... hmm...

I think thats the idea :)

The problem is that only the very high ores like Spodumain seem to be worth it, at least if you sell the minerals.
I've done quite some calculating and the problem seem to be that you don't really earn that much more money on the asteroids like Jaspet but they sure add a lot of travel time and problem fighting pirates etc.

Well then, pretty soon, and I'm close to seeing it already, there will be no asteroid fields in some systems... AT ALL. I've warped in one system to what was maybe 10 rocks left spread out.

I think there should be some sort of, even partial, respawn on a regular basis, or there won't be anything to mine in some systems. So I thought of that and was just curious.

I remember an old answer to a question like yours that said that there's a finite quantity of each ore in the galaxy, and around once a week what you just mined respawns, but not necessarily in the same place, or system. The trouble is that I don't remember if it was a post by a dev, or what - so it may not be true!

I think the fact that astroids can be mined out is a GREAT feature. It adds more of the supply-and-demand element of the game. If there are no more astroids to mine, then find a new system where they are plentiful.

If you want fighting to be more realistic and balanced, why not make mining realistic as well.

Well, if there is NO respawn and not intended to be, my point was eventually the only systems with ore will be ones way out where there is NO stations at all...

Just trying to put a picture to the whole idea of how ore in Eve... what the settled plan is for it...

But who cares anyway, eventually everyone will just resort to that fasination that seems to be gripping most... that mining, trade, industry, etc. doesn't exist and the only thing in the game is killing others (PvP) and camping gates to do it. So what does it matter if there isn't anymore ore later anyway.
