Ok, look at the top lot of escrow's - more than half are scams, courtest of Harmonatrics, Night Elf and so on. Evil or Very Mad

I'm getting fed up of this - escrow is being spammed by scammers. Evil or Very Mad

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CCP - can you review Alt's - if Alts were not in the game, all this scamming bs and other anti-social and detrimental forms of game play would not be anywhere near as prevalent - and those that chose to do it would have to (and rightly so) live with the drawbacks - reputation, revenge attacks, wars and so on that is currently impossible. Evil or Very Mad
They are not needed for any constructive form of game play, other than to scam, rip people off, cheat the bounty system, partially cheat the skills system and the list goes on and on.

Pretty please Very Happy Wink

I just don't bother using the escrow service anymore. It takes way too long to get through all the spamming **** that is listed before you can find a legit item that you want to buy.

order by name and look for what u want and then inspect the item, buying something like that only takes a couple of mins

Just curious, do items such as faction modules show up on market if you do a sell order?

there is a sollution to this and quite frankly the people that use the escrow for leggit services im sure would agree.

Make a skill that allows you to use escrow not required to buy but needed to sell make it tier 3 and cost arround 5 - 10 mill that will surely screw a lot of the scammers at least a bit.

Personally, I would be in favor of ditching alts altogether. I haven't been with the game long, but they seem to cause more trouble than they're worth. The only reason I can see to keeping them is so that you could try out another race or be a miner instead of a fighter somewhere, but as it stands alts just seem to be abused for PvP advantage *which lacks skill and is outright wrong in my opinion* and for exploiting.

I'm rarely looking for anything specific on escrow - just buy when i see a bargain, so the continuous spam is a real pain.
And I would also like a way of actually getting at these people that scam - they just hide behind alts, never online for more than to setup/claim their scams - and create a new alt when the reputation has got toob bad or whatever Evil or Very Mad

And yes, you can sell faction stuff on the market - but unfortunately i won't show unlesss you right click on the item and view market details - which aint mush use since buyers prolly wont have the item to do that!

Removing alts would cause problems for a lot of player, myself included.

for instance, i had two accounts a while back, and intended to keep both running for as long as i played. however, becauase of my financial situation, I had to cancel one, because i couldn't afford to run both, rather than losing the character on the second account, i transferred my main from my second account to the account i use now, where verone is the main, the charactor is now my "alt" he has 4.2mil skillpoints, as well as verone who has 10mil.

If CCP were to remove the possiblity to have alternate characters, this would remove the 4 months of training i have put into my other character, and hence i would have wasted a lot of money in subscriptions, and a hell of a lot of effort.

I see myself as a genuine user of the alternate character system that CCP has laid out for people to use, and i'm estimating there are a lot of people who are also in the same position as me. removing the ability to have an alternate character completely would cause a lot of problems for the player base in general.

By all means drop a character slot so you can only have two, but i believe removing them completely would cause a lot of problems for some users.

Escrow is a joke at the moment, but getting rid of alts is not the answer.

Simple resolution, do it so that you cannot type in your own description - it should be generated by the item in question. Obviously it will mean you cannot put multiple items in one escrow but hey, its a bag of ****e how it is at the moment, anything else would be an improvement.

Ok, Verone has a very good point there - in that case there certainly needs to be a strong and indentifiable link between alts so that they can be identified.

This would still not help all that much tho, so how about a fixed period for Alts - for example, if you creat an Alt, there is a minimum of 1 month in which the Alt must be kept AND trained - in which skill training will only be allowed on the Alt char not the main.

Some kinda of incentive against misuse of Alts needs to be implmented, and some way to track the main char from an Alt - for revenge purposes etc.

I'd still prefer there were nuked altogether, I just fear CCP has ignored this problem for too long - now it's got too big a problem to resolve all that easy.

lol, why dont we just disable everything that could potentially create spam or display spam...

we need to start of by disabling the internet - that might work...

sorry for the sarcasm, but sometimes the solution to a problem can be worse then the problem itself.

They won't imporve escrow to avoid scamming and they shouldn't. If you want secure safe transactions, then use the market. If you don't. Don't whine about being scammed at a flea market.

As somone once said before being able to "block" people on escrow so you don't see their orders would be a good way to help remove alot of alt scams or at least make it easier to find legitamite orders.

Yep. What I would also like is the ability to filter by a common factor. IE (don't show escrow from people in starter corps or less than X months old) or maybe add a GAME DEFINITION of whats in the escrow to filter by button.

IE ... filter the list by what is actually in the escrow.

I should mention that I've never been caught by a scam - it just annoys me the amount of scamspam on escrow and the hiding behind an Alt tactic.

Maybe if Alts could not use escrow for the first few weeks or summin that'd help?

I think standings ( rating) can solve this problem. Any seller starts with 0.0
rating. After every successful transaction rating increase by 0.1%, and if someone
discover scam he can flag scammer ( "report scam) "and his rating decrease
by 0.1%. If 100 buyers review someone offer and it's a scam, then 100 X 0,1%
rating decrease will really hurt. Make it, that character with -10 rating can't use
escrow. Make it that only one "scam report" per offer/account allowed to avoid
system abuse, which means if you see scam offer, you only can report scam
once from any alt of your account. Make default sorting by rating. Best rated
sellers on top, worse ratings sellers in the bottom. Just my 2 isk.

Interesting idea, but nothing will stop the typical jerk off/ personal enemy from buying your stuff and flagging you as a scammer, even though you are legitimate.

I think a better way to reduce scamming is to eliminate alts--- but hear me out.

All alts whom have a certain number of SP's (1.5 mil or so) are allowed to remain. Any alts that have not trained for a full day in the past 5 days and do not exceed 1.5 mil SP's are deleted. This way, people can't just crank out alts every day without their main character taking some kind of hit with skill points.

Suggestions on Escrow issue:

#1: If you have a Character blocked, you will not be able to see anything they have on Escrow.

#2: Make an "Escrow" skill that costs about 10,000,000isk, and is needed to sell on Escrow.

Suggestion #1 can be partly defeated by scammers/spammers by using new alts. #2 will screw them out of 10mil isk everytime they change alts.

Yea. "Hey look, random enemy x has put up an escrow. Everyone in the alliance scam report him".

500 scam reports later...

Won't work, nice try tho.

And as for not letting multiple items be put up, if you WANT 10001 slightly different items being put up for 5 ISK each, you keep on with that plan.

The real answer is to block escrows from people you've put on ignore, and to add an "ignore" feature on the right click option on the escrow screen. Yep, ignore the scammers. It'd WORK.
