Hellmar pointed out to Pann (relayed in an IRC chat) that this constant hourly rebilling is NOT a glitch.

If you look at the dates on the bills they are past due bills. The system has not been billing you regularly (like its supposed to) so this "collection service" billing process has taken place.

The big problem I see is bills are submitted every HOUR until they are caught up. Thus if you had a slot and didn't get a bill for six weeks you will get one bill each hour for the next six hours until its paid for.

Needless to say if you had more then one slot you could have many more bills. I know one corporation that was paying $280,000 an hour for most of the day to keep its slots due to this "glitch" (which isn't a glitch at all).

If it had been set up so the billing was done ALL AT ONCE and people could just pay the past due amount and keep their factories and labs it would've been a little better.

As is we were warned about the new "use a slot or lose it" rule but no one had a clue about this billing "collection service" deal. THAT is the real problem here. People and corporations should've received ONE bill for a slot with all the past due rent listed not a bill an hour for each slot.

No wonder people are upset.

So how often should billing occur? I have received bills for the same set of slots with dates only 2 days apart.

The "glitch" was that the auto cancel routine continued to operate so its would see a out of date billor a slot soon after it was sent to a player and so cancel the slot.

It was the auto cancel - not the billing - that was the problem. We lost a few slots - we immediately re-rented those same slots. 6 hours later, we lost those same slots AGAIN - yet had paid the rent on them. At least two of them were in use at the time they were cancelled.

Keep in mind that if the NPC station decides not to let you continue your rent (because you're not using the slot) the rent money during the unused period will be returned to you.
