I know I'm going tp get flamed for this but I have to say it anyway. Those of you who were on the beta/got in at the start have essentially had all the factory/research slots for free for two months so stop moaning!

The dev blog indicates you'll get them back and OK so you lose a few days of research/copying - at least you had the chance to try these things out. Those of us who had to learn the game from scratch didn't!

Feel free to flame but I for one think this bug has done some good in that it's allowed some small corps/freelancers to actually try manufacturing without paying some griefer millions to get a slot.

I do feel sorry for the smaller corps that were affected by this bug but I don't feel sorry for the big corps - you guys knew what you were doing from day 1 as most of you had been on the beta and you all can recover from this quite easily.

The Scope

It is a sad state of affairs when you consider that there is enough factory and research space available to satify the current levels of use of these facilities many times over.

The current scarcity is driven almost entirely by the goldrush to stake out but not utilise the majority of the capacity; Essentially it is manufactured scarcity (excuse the pun).

The Dev Blog indicates a doubling of slots will take place very soon to resolve the problem caused by the implementation of the latest patch. This has to be welcome to the extent that it helps those who lost out badly in todays bun fight for free space; however the underlying problem still remains:

It remains too easy to grab and mothball facilities in order to demand money for relinquishing them.
