I think that this should be discussed a lot more... Making WCS a high slot module seems to be a very balanced thing to do to me for the following reasons:

1. Balanced across races. Each race's same level ships have very different slot configurations... except high slots. 7 of 8 battleships have 8 highslots. it would be much better than lows or mids in this way.

2. Combat effectiveness. Let's be honest people, if you are using Warp core stabs, you are fitting to run, not to be useful in combat... so why should your combat effectiveness with 7 warp core stabs be almost the same as without, with a huge chance to survive? If you are fit to run, you should not be able to do combat in any way. You have to admit, if you are one of those people who though dualMWD ravens wre hax0ring, that using a 5 WCS, 4 damp raven is also hax0ring.

anyway. those are my thoughts.

Well actually 6 of 8 bs have 8 highs, the Domi and Scorp have 6.

I do agree though, highslot WCS are the way to go, or just remove them, with the upcoming EW changes warp disruptors don't work anyway.

And how many hi slots do Industrials have?

I wouldn't mind too much about that.

The only problem I could see is that it would be a bit of a nerf to the geurilla style of fighting. On anything but a Dominix or a Scorpion, it probably would not change too much as most BS have a couple of "utility high slots".

As for when to make the change??? well lets see how the current changes turn out first, shall we?

it was suggested by lifewire a while ago...
A good idea imo but could be a disadvantage for some ships (indies for example).

Definetly think this is a decent solution.

Sacrificing 1 mid (disruptor) to counter 1 low is just stupid.

Actually its 2 mids, to counter 1 low, assuming your using disruptors.

Again, I do have a problem with the inabbility of one ship to counter the fitting of anouther. As in the 6-8 WCS found on many BS's. Even some pvp'ing BS's that I have seen.

It sould be easier to run then to catch, granted. But it should also be possible to catch someone. And please don't tell me that a tackling scorp is a good idea.

Yes and also, if you want safety, you should have to directly compromise your offense.

My view:

If you use WCS you shouldnt be able to use bm's in the area of a gate. Then if you want to live, WCS for ultimate safety but might get stuck in system for a while. If you opt for BM, you can not use WCS but you can travel faster (good with frigs etc).

I hearby claim this thread for the PAWCS = Pirates Against Warp Core Stabs.

back to subject, yes WCS should be for runners and not for fighters. And to those that are gonna whine about Indys, well then get the new blockade runners with the built-in +2 warp strength and then fit another 2 stabs in the 2 free high slots. Seriously though, do you think it's fair for 2 interceptors to not be able to hold a big freighter ship? that is of course under the current rules on Tranquility. Also if they make WCS high slots mods, then also release tech2 stabs and make em +2 strength, this way you can still get a high warp strength to counter a few warp jammers.
But then you gotta fear the coming of tech2 warp jamming modules, hehehehe Twisted Evil
Again, these are only suggestions, I am not too sure CCP will ever do this.

In this case please also make ECCM Backups etc Hi-slot modules. ohohoh and also shield/armour hardeners and repairers!

They dont want to get caught so easily, they fit WCS.
They dont want to get jammed so easily, they fit ECCM Backups.
They dont want to get killed so easily, they fit Tanking Gear, or Jammers.

It's up to you do devise a way to counter that.

SIGNED WHOLEHEARTEDLY.

Lets take an annoying example where people can fit 4 warp stabs ( for example ) and still pvp reletivly effectivly...........the raven.

So many fights i been in 1 v 1 and even in small groups where the raven in particular has got away. Its crazy that a ship can pratically fit a full offense without having to compromise much, the only way 1 of these pilots will get caught is because of there own lazyness.

pvp has always meant to me no warp stabs fitted at all.

Cinnander im not to sure about eccm being hi slot, that seems a little daft, youd be able to tank to feck, fit against ewar. ( much as i dont like caldari bs, if that happened id feel sry for scorp users ).

Nay. EW changes favour those who wish to disrupt. Not much understood but it is the case.

I believe WCS where removed out of mid-slot because they sucked hard and noone wanted to use them so they got moved to low slot and you think high is going to make it better?

Thats because having them as midslot modules is unbalanced. Ships more or less have the same amount of highslots. With midslots you go from having 3 on one ship (geddon) to 8 on another (scorp).

8 nanos with no AB doesn't make you invincible at allRazz

Even with AB you'd get owned.

That would be just lame. Then you could just put plating on medslots on bs, corestabs on high and lo, and nobody would be able to take you down.

Um, the idea is to change WCS from being lowslot mods to being highslot modsRazz

Making them high slots mods is one way to go. I think just doubling the CPU need would be a reasonable option though.

CPU increase does not work across ship classes, also doesn't fix the fact that some BS have 4 lows, and some have 8.

At the very least, give them a stacking penalty in the new warp disruption system.

Weirda think it a good idea... also think that EW should be moved back to highslots as originally intended. That's why the 'gimp' utility slots are there on amarr/galliente... Matari are too dumb to use EW and Caldari had the mids for eccm...

then they move thing around... and - well, when the vision was lost, so was the balance... Shocked

I think it does work accross classes. As the ship gets bigger, it can become harder to stop. I don't see anything too wrong with that. The main point is that fitting weaponry and multiple stabs should become much much harder. As far as the number of slots goes, I can see that making them high slot mods would be more balanced accross the races and provide a direct trade of weaponry for core stability. I'm not saying that the CPU increase is a better way. I'm just saying that it's an alternative that does address what I see as being the main issue.

A minor point about making them high slot mods is that there would also be a small advantage to the ships with more cargo space. Since you would have to carry your bulky weapons in cargo instead of just leaving them strapped onto the ship but offline.
