Ok, don't know what made me think of this but here it goes.

So every ship in game will have a new option next to where your auto pilot and so on is.

This option is simple...

When you are not in combat you can click this option which will send you into a repair state

During the time that this is active you cannot target, warp, fire anything, or active any modules.
Nothing works....

Basically, it takes all the power from your ship and applies it to nano bots and shields that are standard on every ship.

The duration in which the repair process takes is based on how much you have to repair.
However, it repairs hull, armor, and shields of your ship.

The duration will range from we'll say 10 seconds with a shuttle, up to 10 minutes or so with a carrier.

The module will not shut off and return power back to the rest of your ship until you are engaged or, you finish repairing hull armor and shields.

Now, the system relays to itself when it is close to finishing repairs and will slowly return the power back to the rest of the ship, so when you're done, you're able to take right off and go shoot something.

HOWEVER, due to the complex natures of redirecting the power, if the ship is knocked out of repair statis by aggression from npcs or another player, The repairs system will be shut off and the ship will be unable to do anything at all until after a minute or so, in which the power is being reverted back to the rest of the ship.

It makes sense. This is not a game breaking change since it can't be used in combat and will actually hurt you if someone engages you while you're repairing.

It also saves the headache of having to fly back to a station and repair or fit rep mods and repair.. You can simply sit in place, repair, then jump to the next room or whatever you're doing.

Now, to keep this as an isk dump instead of free repairs, possibly make it cost a certain amount of isk per second in order to pay your crew to rush around changing everything.

This will be cheaper than station repairs, but takes longer and can only be done floating out in space with everything shut off.

So more or less, you're a sitting duck until your reps are finished, but it beats flying back to stations or waiting for someone to come rep you...

Can't wait till someone in a 3+ bil fit whine because they got ganked in motsu because they got shot at in repair mode and coudn't even shoot back. I like the idea, though, as would make sense in some areas. Let's say you're in WH space and back at a pos and have some (heaven forbid) hull damage. So you didn't bring a hull repper, so what. It's benificial, yet risky if you start it in the wrong area (see first line).

Yeah, that's kinda really what it's for.

Wormhole space you can still have repairs.

Lowsec ppl can still have repairs after the fight for hull and armor if they're a shield gang, and hull and shield for armor gangs.

Null sec ppl who may not have someone around or reppers readily available.

Also for the lazy missioner who doesn't wanna pay for repairs at stations like me
