Watching some anime series and doing net searches on them I commonly fing websites selling crafted figures for different series. And mostly, they are all sold out or discontinued (for the more popualar series), but one particular website still keeps them listed for perhaps, reference information.

Seems the figures sell out within a year. Do these figure normally retain their value or increase? I am still waiting for the anime/manga revolution in the US, and wondering if having a few figures on hand might be worth an ebay investment, before I go through each individual ebay listing.

As an 'investment', I would not do it. It is kinda shot and miss.

Some figures skyrocket in price... others stay more or less the same.
All depends on quality and the popularity of the character.

I bought a Sanya V. Litvyak (strike witches) figure about a year ago for around $100, now it's going on ebay for between $220 to $350.
but I didn't buy it just to sell it again :P it's a work of art to me.

Then there's this Vocaloid petite nendoroid figure... it seems it's actually depreciated somewhat since I bought it. oh well. again, not why I bought it ;)

the only once that you could make money off of are the ones you can't find anywhere any more.

I recently bought a Yagyu Jubei and a Naeo kanetsugu Figure, im anxious to see if they increase in price too. But generally i do think most figures increase in price over time.
