Hi all,
My brother and I have recently started fleeting up. He's training as a booster in his Brutix and I'm in my drone boat Myrmidon.

We seem to have figured out (after a while) that as the booster he has to be Squad Commander and I have to be Squad Member or I don't get the bonuses. That is ok, but I'm the one picking up the missions as he doesn't yet have access to lvl 4 agents, this means that he can't warp us both to the mission area, which is a real pain and he has to wait until I get to the area before he can follow me in. Is there a way around this? Is it possible for me to have a role assigned that allows me to warp him as well?

Secondly, once he gets to do level 4's and so can warp us both to the mission area, do we arrive at the same time? Is there a delay? I'm just thinking for aggro purposes. We want to share the aggro on the harder L4's.

Secondly (Part2) - What determines who gets the aggro, whether it be me, him or my drones? distance from the npc? or some other factor?

Thirdly, when we're being targetted, sometimes there is a yellow flashing box on the overview to show we're being targetted and sometimes it just flashes red. What's the difference?

Thanks all in advance!

Florin

The squad booster does not need to be the squad commander. Simply right click his name in the fleet window, and click "set [as] squad booster"

As long as the squad commander has the skills to command a squad of 2, then he will be able to supply the bonuses he trains.

Ok, but the eve wiki says that boosters dont apply the bonuses to people above. So if I was squad commander and he was squad member, I wouldn't get his bonuses?

For example, a fleet commander doesn't recieve any bonuses other than his own. Wing commander recieves bonuses from the fleet commander but not below etc etc...

Sorry, actually missed these parts:

Only the person who has pulled the mission, gets the right click context to warp to mission. The "squad commander" will ideally always be the one taking the missions. The SQ can select "warp squad" as an option in the context menu.

Aggro:
- Yellow boxing means the NPC is locking you
- Red boxing means the NPC is engaging you

Once the NPC has you red boxed, the aggro will never shift in a level 4. Various things affect aggro:
- Who shot first. Typically, firing at a group of NPCs will aggro the entire group onto you.
- Proximity. Some NPCs will target you once you're within a certain range.

The complication in your setup, will be aggro on new spawns. As soon as a new spawn appears, you will either need to leave it well alone if it does not auto aggro, or the 'tank' needs to immediately bring the aggro onto himself.

The squad booster can boost the whole SQUAD, including the commander, but it can not move up to boost the wing. For the purposes of hierarchy, the commander is equal to the members.

Enabling your friend to warp you: When you get the mission bookmark from your agent, I believe it is possible to copy that bookmark and pass it to another player. So do that and let him warp you in.

You warping both of you: Make sure you are the Fleet boss, transfer yourself to the Wing Command position, initiate a Wing warp and then transfer yourself back to the Squad position while in warp.

Yes you both arrive at the same time.

Aggro: Somewhat random, don't get your drones out before they aggro. If you want one of you to be the tank send him in first.

Yellow box means you have been targeted, Red Box means you have been fired on, where fired on can be any aggressive mod eg. Target Painter, Warp Disruptor, ECM as well as guns. This is more important in PvP when someone redboxing you means they now have a session counter to wait out before they can dock or jump through a gate. ie they are committed to the fight. For example someone can yellow box you on a gate, you commit and fire on them (you redbox them), they can immediately jump through the gate and escape, but now you have 30 seconds to wait until you can jump.

Ok, so if I form a fleet and invite my brother as a squad member, I can then set him as Squad Booster and I'll also get the effects?

Yeah, sorry, but no.
You don't need to do any of this, just set HIM as the booster yet retain squad commander yourself. No need to play fleet musical chairs. As for the mission bookmark - you can't create one without first flying there .. so no.

Finally, no you don't both arrive at the same time. You *would* if you were both already aligned, then the fleet warp command was given. However, the second character has no idea where to align to without first being warped, so in practice, faster aligning ship lands first.

It's really as simple as:
* Squad commander - can warp everyone under him
* Squad booster - his bonuses are those used for boosting

It's really simple.
