Hai guize!

I'm at a bit of a crossroads now; I've trained a bunch of drone skills (They were rather low on the list as a Minmatar frigate user) but since I've gotten a Hurricane I've been wondering what setup would be best; A handful of medium drones or even one heavy, or a swarm of lights?

Being in a "Medium" hull, I find that the light drones keep frigates off my back no problem when I'm mining in my makeshift mining fit, and do help me in my odd fights with other players (Enourmously) when they or rats have frigates. Then I hear how medium & heavy drones do massively-improved damage against most targets, but take up moar capacity & bandwidth, and aren't as good as lights when attacking small ships.

Which should I pick for general usage?

Good day:

Either a flight of light ECM drones or Warrior II's.

If you fly an Armor cane using a web, then a flight of Hobgoblin II's are a possibility as well.

Thank you.

Generally speaking... it's a good idea to have a full flight (i.e. 5) of "Light" drones for frigate-swatting duty in your drone bay at all times.
And if you are doing PvE... use Hobgoblins (they do the most damage and are strong against most NPC rats).
If you are doing PvP... use Warriors (they are the fastest of all drones and can easily catch up to all but interceptors).

But to get to the meat of your inquiry... "lights" can pretty much attack anything without a problem (except REALLY big ships). If you use "mediums" then you are pretty much limited to using them against cruiser sized hulls and larger (as mediums drones are not fast enough and have poor tracking to keep up with small ships). "Heavies" are the exact opposite of "light" drones in that they can deal high amounts of damage but are not mobile and have trouble engaging anything smaller than a battlecruiser.

When in doubt, go light.

With the Canes limited drone bay go with whatever gives you a full flight. I personally go with 1 medium and 4 lights on my hurricane.

For a cane I prefer 5 warriors or 5 light ECM
