I Just got a crusader and i was wondering how to fly this thing. I really suck at flying this thing and fail at life. I was wondering if there was any tips or tactics you guys have ??
1. How Do I Sweep When My Optimal Range Is About 5000m
Crusader Fitting
(4x)Gatling Pulse Lasers (scorch)

Heat Sink I
Overdrive Injector System II
(2x)Nanofiber Internal Structure II

*Rigs*
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Energy Locus Coordinater I

In five years I've never heard sweep used as a term for something in Eve. What do you mean precisely? I've flown all kinds of ceptors a fair bit so I can probably help.

i think its when you sweep past them, shoot, then turn around, then repeat the cycle ( or i could be totally wrong)

I think it is more like interceptor have to do a long line across the range of enemy ship (5000 meters range) since it have terrible align speed, it more of... U turn to keep your ship in range, hence the Sweep.

Sooo... there are a few ways to fit and fly the Crusader...

There's this:

[Crusader - SlicerWannabe]

[Lows]
Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Overdrive Injector System II

[Mids]
Catalyzed Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters
Warp Disruptor II

[Highs]
Dual Light Pulse Lasers II (Scorch)
Dual Light Pulse Lasers II (Scorch)
Dual Light Pulse Lasers II (Scorch)
Dual Light Pulse Lasers II (Scorch)

[Rigs]
Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
Small Energy Locus Coordinator I

Notes: With level 4 to 5 skills; this fit is cap stable with guns off and caps out in 2 minutes with everything running. Speed is about 4500+ m/sec and hits out from about ~14km with Scorch crystals while dealing about ~100 DPS.

Tactics: Manually fly to targets at range (in a perpendicular/corkscrew motion). Once you get close enough, try to settle into an orbit NO LESS that 11km from the target. Your MWD should stay on the whole time.
The idea is to stay outside of overloaded web/scram range while speed tanking any incoming damage. If the incoming damage is minimal, you should be able to grind down the target.

edit: take note that scorch ammo DECREASES your gun's ability to track. If something has gotten uncomfortably close to you (i.e. drones) then switch ammo to Standard (saves on cap) or Multifequency.

There is also this fit:

[Crusader - WhereYOUgoin?]

[Lows]
Damage Control II
Small Armor Repairer II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Overdrive Injector System II

[Mids]
1MN Afterburner II
Warp Scrambler II

[Highs]
Gatling Pulse Laser II (Multifrequency)
Gatling Pulse Laser II (Multifrequency)
Gatling Pulse Laser II (Multifrequency)
Small Nosferatu II

[Rigs]
Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
Small Energy Burst Aerator I

Notes: With level 4 to 5 skills this fit is cap stable without the armor repper and caps out in 1 minute with everything running. It dishes about ~100 DPS and goes ~1600 m/sec.
You CAN increase the DPS substantially by dropping the Nos for a fourth Gatling Laser... but you risk being capped out by an Energy Neutralizer and/or by the battle lasting for too long.

Tactics: Standard "Taranis tactics"... go in fast, get point, overheat your guns, orbit close, and pray. If you decide to take on something MUCH larger than yourself then kill all the drones before focusing your efforts on the target ship.

lul @ Nosferatu on a Sader.

Crusader, much like most Amarr laser boats = optimal orbit for DPS + scram + out-tank the target. Your question is pretty vague as it depends on what you are fighting.

Lose the OD Injectors and Nanos; put in DCUII + Adaptive Nano II x2 + Heat Sink II. Warp in, burn to target to 10kmish, apply scorch DPS and scram for as long as possible until scrammed back + enemy makes up the distance. Switch to multi and close the orbit up to 3-4km. Enjoy.

"Sweeping" - dunno where you got that from, but it doesn't sound like a Sader is what you wanna be in if you are doing that.

Why the Adaptive Nanos if you haven't got any buffer? ODIs or Nanos probably would be better than ANPs if you aren't fitting a rep or a buffer.

Now that you mention it, it does make me wonder... but I always had pretty good success fighting with that fit. Hm, may revise that as some stage.

Anywho, fitting advice aside, "sweeping", whatever that actually entails, does not seem like a viable tactic for an Interceptor. Smaller ships require a lot more ability to fly effectively and what you are fighting drastically changes how you fly your ship or approach combat. I would give examples but it would take far too long. Experience is your friend.

Used to do what you could call sweeping past in crazy fast nano-boats. Tricky these days. Different thing entirely really though.

Used to pile into a blob of ships at stupid speeds, pop a frig on the way through, and let momentum take me back out of range of tacklers, even if webbed etc...

Oh those happy pre nano nerf days :-)

Good day:

I've had reasonable success with this fit (Tusker based):

[Crusader, Gunner]
Damage Control II
Heat Sink II
Small Armor Repairer II
Adaptive Nano Plating II

1MN Afterburner II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I

Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S
Gatling Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S

Small Energy Burst Aerator I
Small Energy Collision Accelerator I

Orbit 500 to 2,000 meters; switch to Scorch S to be able to expand your orbit towards max scram range based on what you are fighting.

Thank you.
