Title explains it.
One out of ten.
I just bought one, and I'm curious as to how the Eve community views it. What are its strengths? What ships are it good against? etc I just want to play on its strengths as best I can.

Would autocannons or Artillery work best with the Hurricane? |

It's got good dps, good speed for its size, can armor tank well if you fit it for it, has an average buffer shield tank, can normally fit med neuts aswell with a decent fit. Its hard to give it a */10, unless your talking price/damage/tank/speed comparison, in which battlecruisers have had that role won hands down for the last 18 months now. |

Drake and Cane take away from most of the battleship roles in small gang PvP. What I mean by that is, before introduction of those ships, most of the pilots who fly them now were flying battleships. |

(compared against other BCs)
Speed/maneuverability: 8/10 - excellently nimble hull, when nanoed it's quite easily the equal of some nanocruisers. Under armor tank, it's little different from the Harbinger or a plated Brutix.
Shield tank: 5/10 - Only 4 mids mean you've got to pick between Prop/EWAR (point/web/etc) and shield mods. Shield tanking is viable, but you'll need to use speed and range to supplement it.
Armor Tank: 8/10 - not the raw HP of the Harbi/Proph, or the repping capacity of the Myrm, but enough EHP to hang around while it puts holes in stuff.
DPS: 9/10 - despite only 6 turret slots, the sheer amount of dakka is impressive, especially if you go for BC V. Good with arties or ACs.
Slots: 9/10 - this thing is a fitting dream. Plenty of room for adaption and personalization, 2 utility highs, and enough PG/CPU to fit it all? Yespls.
Drones: 6/10 - 30m3, so you can get a full flight of lights or 3 mediums in as you prefer. Not as nice as the Harbi or Myrm - even outdone by the Cyclone, in fact.
Sensors/EWAR: 8/10 - Good locking range, scan res. Sensor strength is slightly lower, as with all Minmatar ships.
PvE - 9/10 - 720mm/assault missile Hurricane. 'nuff said.
All in all - 8/10. Excellent hull for a number of jobs, albeit master of none. It does have its weaknesses compared to other BCs (it's not a Myrm, so don't rely on your drones, and the shields are definitely not up to the Drake's par) but it's a great slugger in the 20-50 KM range. |

both, depending on fitting, though the drake imo is better for pve then the cane, both can be great pvp boats, drakes have huge buffer or can fit EW in the midslots, cane is fast and if u watch alliance tournaments u will see canes used extensively |

Extremely helpful & insightful, thank you :) But of all the things you mentioned, I noticed the part about the drones in particular. Being a medium-fit ship class, I would tend to use a full flight of Generic Hobgoblin 2's to overcome weaknesses against frigates intrinsic to larger ships. Is it better (In general practice) to use a handful of medium or large drones or a large number of small ones for support against the frigates? |

The cane is awesome and one of the most fun ships you can fly. Fast, nimble and has a high DPS / alpha.
It doesn't tank all that well, especially since it's usually fit for speed and dps. Often it's best to kite your enemies, or simply blow them away before tank becomes an issue. |
