just returned to eve after a year. all i see is hate/rage post about nex items. i looked into the whole nex store. i noticed everyone qqing about how they are only playing because they have plex still left on their accounts etc. eve is no longer the same because of nex store blah blah blah. yet they use alot of plex for all of their accounts. i just have simple question for players who have been raging non stop about this:

Whats the difference between buying an item from the nex store and buying plex?

If you don't already know the answer to that question, nobody is going to be able to successfully explain it to you.

Wow, someone posted a thread before bothering to look for the answer to the question themselves!

This week that's only happened...

*shuffling papers*

...that variable times variable #17, carry the two, find the derivative...

A LOT.

nothing, except plex can be converted to game time, or sold for ISK.

don't know anyone who gives a rats ass about what is in the next store. excpet chicken little jackasses that don't think CCP will keep their promise to never put anything in the NeX store that affects gameplay.

There is no difference. These people are crying because Mommy and Daddy gave them everything they wanted and now they've come to expect the same from the world. I mean, we are talking about people who think this game is just about spaceships.

You picked a terrible time to return. 2010/2011 have been the worst years Eve has ever seen.

buying items from nex store comes directly from ccp with NO player interaction whatsoever

buying items using plex isk comes from PLAYERS who took the time to (A) mine the mins (B) invent or build the items (C) move it to a trade hub

wait, now i am confused. i thought plex came from players using real life currency, the same like items bought from the nex store.

Obtaining PLEX through Account Management

The following instructions are for players that wish to purchase PLEX directly from CCP using the Account Management page.

Log into Account Management
Click "Buy PLEX" in the Common Tasks column
Complete all fields of the PLEX Purchase Form
You can purchase bundles of 1,2,6,12 or 28 PLEX every 24 hours
Only one purchase per 24 hours is allowed. If a player purchases 2 PLEX, they will have to wait 24 hours to buy another batch.
Each PLEX is valid for 30 days of game time.
Only credit cards will be accepted as payment for PLEX.

this is changed now?

Let's think about that for a sec... you had plex... Isk (made by players) to game time.

Now you have... a microtrasaction store (that has nothing that is micro in it) selling stuff made by CCP, for money. Players in no way make anything in the store.

Either drop the damn sub free or fucĸ off with the nex store for RL money.

And ya the game was only internet space ships now the game is only a money grab.

What does being able to jerk off in the CQ add to eve? O right nothing but being able to pay CCP more money.

I'm still amused people are under the misconception the NeX is there to act as some sort of money making MT shop. It's not. It's there to reduce the supply of PLEX. If the NeX encouraged people to buy PLEX for RL money (which it doesn't, as seen by the insane pricing) it would be counter productive to what CCP originally intended it to be, a PLEX sink.

In one. But then I did read a post by someone complaining that PLEX are now too expensive. Hmmmm.

For mine, I'm STILL amused how such ranting can go into an OPTIONAL product that is garnish only and made with the whole theme of WIS in mind. NeX WILL BE HUGE when that door opens!

CQ/Nex are interrelated and relevant - IN THE LONG TERM. Unfortunately fully half the whiners want everything yesterday and tomorrow is just another time to start whining again.

Solution for the returning gentleman. Turn off CQ and don't rush to buy a new blouse. Otherwise, nothing has changed.

For me the main issue is not the items (although I find them extremely bland and boring). What annoyed me most is that this is the expansion I have been waiting for since I joined EVE, the expansion where I turn from being a spaceship into being a character. But then "Walking in stations" turned out to be "Walking in a single cell with just one design" but with an added store that CCP said they'd never do. And it's just a single room of one design since the art teams are too busy - yet they find time to churn out even more bland and boring clothes.

That the pricing rules out anyone but the very rich is just the icing on the cake, and that CCP utterly fails to address player concerns makes me fear they've given up on the game except to milk it for cash as good as they can.

Thus the major expansion I had been pining for turned out to maybe be the ultimate ruining of the game. Hatred against the NEx is just the vent I use.

I've sort of returned recently. Been in and out the past year.

One random thing I don't like is the new sov.. I'm not clear on it.. doesn't feel right, no more sov from towers? Players need to be careful about what they think they want, they could wind up ruining the game.

Regarding the cash shop..

Speaking for myself I wouldn't want to see Eve turn into Wow.. not even Wow has a $80 cash shop item, tops there is $25 for a flying mount. And I thought that was a lot.

Getting back in the game I'm slowly cooling off about the cash shop rage. I still don't like the overall direction.. keep seeing game startup ads pushing PLEX sales as a way to "build your empire," etc.

It's a problem of slippery slope.. when PLEX came out, everyone rationalized that. But one thing leads to another, you know?

If you would have read any of the devblogs or countless other articles related to all of this, plus logged into one of the test servers before the launch of Incarna, you wouldn't be writing any of that right now, because...

1. The clothes that they've been releasing were already made months ago.

2. They stated about one hundred billion, three hundred fifty seven thousand, nine hundred and two times that the release of Incarna in its entirety will be done in stages.

So you're only complaint (if you would have read anything, aside from the trolling derps that keep spamming the forums) is that you don't like the current items and they're too expensive. I would think that, since you do not like them, being expensive doesn't matter.

Yeah, hmmph, well. I think I just invalidated about fifty percent of the whine posts on the forum.

Oops.
