i got a very annoying problem with my PC, and i thoguht maybe the EVE community could help me as i fail to find anything on google ^^

when i first start up my PC everything is going fine, i can start any game up, but after some time(today it was after 30 mins!) every .exe file just crashes on me when i start things up, eve in this case crashes when the splashscreen comes(while supreme commander crashes when you start loading a map) and unless i restart the PC, i can't start up any game. while internet still works perfectly fine while i got this problem. and i can't think of anything what could have caused this problem...

thanks for helping in advance!

edit: i use windows 7

First thing I would try is to go to the event viewer. Under control panel > system and security, click view event logs then expand windows logs, then look at the logs under application and look for logs with the level of Error and see what keeps happening.

On hardware side could be heat related or bad caps. Both can be usually tracked with visual check.

Start by completely uninstalling your nVIdia drivers and then installing the absolute latest ones from nVidia.com. nVidia cards can also be susceptible to old BIOS versions for some reason... so check your Mobo BIOS revision up to date.

That should cure the woes - however you may have faulty card....

Best add a hardware list to this thread to help peeps help you better.

Quick googles on the 0xc0000005 stop code point toward memory, and specifically memory access problems. Can be easily tested if you get continuous problems after updating mainboard and drivers.

lol can't read dutch, but might be a dll library issue. (But I can't be certain) and if you stated wiping and reinstalling your drivers didnt work?

A few questions?
Do you blue screen? or just drop?
Can you watch videos?
What about other software...itunes? windows office?
what happens if you leave your computer running and do nothing?

One thing to try also to rule out hardware v. software is run a registry cleaner.
Another thing to try to eliminate variables is swap out your VGA or take a few sticks of ram out.
You can also a memory test (Dont freak out after you manually run one windows will tell you a memory problem was detected. It hasnt it just states that anytime one was run.)

I had a similar issue, start with a clean install and then get an updated bios on the motherboard then install the chipset drivers. That fixed a lot of crashing issues on my Asus A8N with the single core version of that chip.

Ok so app crash still. Have you tried the other options? Video such as flash or direct avi file? other programs besides games that still utilize graphics?

did it give you an error message?

just out of curiocity, what drivers did you install? maybe you can go back a revision or two

To make my system stable i needed to
1 update bios
2 update chipset driver
3 update mobo driver

One thing I might also suggest is to take out all but one or two sticks of ram and see how it runs. If you still get problems, try a different pair on a different DIMM slot. Maybe a memtest is in order.

Another thing you may do, though its kinda far fetched is that you may have a problem with your hard drive haveing a bad sector, this usually would result in a system crash or at least messages saying something was unacceptable. If you have an old HD laying around, plug it in a just put tanks on it and see how it goes.

And if you are useing win 7 try forcing DX9 or DX10 mode. Maybe your install of DX has gone bad.

thats the Nvidea driver. So I think you are haveing a driver stability issue, see if you can get a 6 month old version of the driver and install that one.

have you updated your drivers from the nvidia site? or windows updater?

Also find and download CCleaner. Run it to clean registry problems. It also crashes with WOT? If it doesnt impact WOT run the eve repair tool as well.

Can you find another VGA and swap them out to test?

and yes, EVERY game crashes once the "bug" comes

You need another to borrow another graphics card. And swap them out. Really to change most computer hardware. Vgas involve pressing a release unhooking the power and removing it. Replace with a different one (nvidia to keep it simple) and try again.

Try the newest drivers if you havent already
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-280.26-whql-driver.html

also you can try the alder drivers archived over at guru3d. The last big driver before the 280 series was the 275.50 which can be found here
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Nvidia-GeForce-275.50-Win-7-64-bit-download-2738.html

and if you really want to turn back the clock try the one here from last year
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-Forceware-259.32-Win-7-%7C-Vista-64-bit-download-2605.html

A variety of odd errors/BSODs can be traced to heat issues with a PC component.
Seems like your video card is exceeding its heat tolerances, judging from your symptoms.

I've had one video card burn up on me (mainly caused by EVE a few years back) and the one I'm currently using almost bit the dust until I made the effort to clean its dust ladened fan + heatsink. It's still somewhat wonky (producing several graphical artifacts) but at least it can still be reliably used. The damage seems permanent.

To that effect, I've manually set its variable fan speed/duty cycle to a fixed 95%. One thing it'll guarantee that the main die stays cool regardless of application, secondly it'll give me a consistent temperature reference point to make it simpler/easier to pick up dust related issues. Fortunately, it's an old 7300GT, so the fan noise is barely audible.

If you want to give it a try, there two major ways to change the fan speed; flashing the BIOS via nvFlash after making the necessary adjustments with NiBiTor or just running a resident program like RivaTuner or its equivalents. Best solution of course (if it turns out to be a hardware related issue), is a replacement video card.

hmm, i guess it could be a heat issue. ill see if i can get a videocard from somewhere else in this house and see if the same thing stil happens, couldn't bring any harm anyway to check other videocards
