We have a corp member who wants to use our mobile lab to copy some BPOs. I thought I had it all configured correctly but he keeps getting an error saying he does not have the factory manager role. I thought that was only needed to run remote jobs.

current setup is:
* He take his BPO and places it in the mobile lab
* He has the "rent research slot" role
* has access to a dummy corp wallet
* the mobile lab access is set to "corporation" (not pos fuel manager or starbase config manager)
* he has access to some of the hangars
* (yes, the lab is online and has an open slot)

What am I messing up? I'd rather not hand out factory manager to everyone who wants to do BPO research and copies.

Thanks in advance!

I think you have to give him factory manager. Yes, the POS access and corp right system needs some serious work (CCP, you listening?)

oh, and unless you dont have a station in the system of the pos, ALWAYS put the BPO in the station corp hangars. much safer.

Factory Manager role is a must have for anyone who wants to start manufacturing, research or invention job for the corporation.

Thank you all! I did finally just give up and hand out factory manager. So much for levels of security. Either you hand out the master key or you don't. I suppose that means we need to modify our corp POS access guidelines to over 1 year of membership before they can do BPO research. That is just all kinds of suckage. But I can buy new pants and a monocle!

Yep, remote install from the nearby station is preferred.

YES. You are totally right. CCP REALLY should think about fixing the roles and rights, because they are painful as hell. Members of corps are frustrated because they think they cannot be trusted and ceos or directors who make one stupid mistake with roles and rights may loose all corp assets to one single player who gained enough trust to get access to it and uses it to steal everything over night.
There is no intelligence behind it, roles and titles in eve just suck badly. There is no security and you can spend hours and hours to understand how it works until you give up and see that ccp just made a VERY bad job with this. Mad

POS role management didn't even make it to the 5 year nullsec plan. ETA: never.

I remember reading a devblog or a post by a dev long time ago that touched on POS and role management programming. The problem is that the code is so old that there was no point in fixing anything unless CCP intends to rewrite the entire system.

So, yeah that's CCP-speak for never.

Yeah, there is no shiny nice Grafic inside this and it needs some brain to do that right. Looks like real work.

Thats a problem.

It's so annoying that CCP waste time and resources on utter crap and ignore core game content. If find it hard to believe that CCP management actually give a damn about the game and players.
