So as per the subject, I'm finally getting close to mapping away from per/will and finally getting back to support skills. My current skills are here. To finish out, I'm looking at at least:

  • Logistics 5

  • EAF 5

  • ASC 4

  • Gallente Freighter 3

My question is: am I missing anything major here? I've considered taking AF and Interceptor to 5 as well, and I've at least toyed with the idea of HAC 5 (but since the only HAC I regularly use is an Ishtar and I haven't felt a lack of drone space yet I'm disinclined to the latter).

I have the option of dropping unallocated skill points into Propulsion Jamming 5 which would allow me to train up HIC (probably to 4). Just how worthwhile would that be (for mostly solo and some small gang play)?

Obviously I could throw in a carrier skill but haven't really been inclined towards capitals as of yet. Assuming I were moving towards more and more regular play in low sec and wormholes, just how much would a basic carrier benefit me? Obviously I'd be waiting for the impending int/mem map (which is planned to last ~13 months already) for jump skills, but I could at least have the ship skill worked out ahead of time.

Obviously these are pretty subjective questions, but I'd love to see any and all arguments for or against adding something to the current list to wrap up the (very) long per/will slog. Ideas?

Edit: forgot to mention, all per/will subsystem skills are also going to at least 4 before remap. Considering taking them to 5. Suggestions there would also be welcome.

Hell yeah, Logi V owns.

The time and SP you're putting into EAFs would be much better served by being put into HAC V. If you like Taranises/inties, you could train Interceptor V. The -15% mwd sig radius reduction bonus makes you even harder to track + reduces incoming missile dps and I think level V reduces your sig bloom to the extent that can actually absorb a bomb blast while your mwd is active (someone will correct me if I'm wrong here; I don't have Interceptors V yet so I don't know firsthand).

Also, if you have unspent learning SP, you might consider putting into something like Skirmish Warfare Spec (or armor/shield spec) which you will obviously never commit a remap to if you want to share some really great bonuses from your T3, CS or even a regular BC

PS might as well get the freighter up to IV, it's only an additional week and you're putting down a considerable amount of money for the hull. Might as well get as much as you can out of it.

Definitely train the T3 subsystem skills to 5. I only trained the T3 ship skills themselves to 4 because eh. But if you're going to fly ships with the cost and power of T3s, then it's madness not to have the skills at level 5 IMO.

Assuming you don't already have it, I didn't get a chance to look at the link...

Actually, ignore me, just seen you have that. Embarassed

Definitely get bomb deployment to IV to get access to all types of bombs.
You could consider training interdictors/heavy interdictors.

Also I think capital skills are very much worth it for serious wormhole work (at least if you plan on living there and not dropping in and out)
Your SP is there so if you can stomach not remapping for a bit I'd probably get carrier/dread IV of some race at least.

Roger on Bomb Deployment; not sure how I forgot that one. Subsystems will go to 4.

I think I'm going to keep EAF 5 on the list mostly because it isn't so much a performance skill so much as a "need to have" if you want to fly the things in the first place. I'm looking hard again at Interceptors though; it might get tacked on.

If I were to train capitals, I'm assuming the best option would be to go for Amarr Dreadnaught, but I'm more up in the air on which carrier. Given that any and all are within reach, would it generally be better to just stick with Amarr or go Gallente here?

Thanks for all replies so far.

picking a carryer is completly dependent on what you rather, amarr has more tank, but galante is more gank, so its basicly personal preferance again

Large Railgun Spec to 4. When they do sort these out, it will make your Gal BS V even more versatile.

Also as a long range punt Defenders to 4, but that really is a long range bet.

Subs to 5. There is nothing to argue about, the increase is just that huge.

EAF.. mmm well.. if ccp ever get around to fixing em.. sure ;)

But seriously subsystems to 5. No question about it. Do it! :) Its only like 4 days to get it to 5 from 4 too, so it isnt like its a long train.

Gal Freighter to 4. For the space and the ability to use a Jump Freighter when you have your Jump Drive calibration to 4. You may not ever use a Jump Freighter. Though, the bonus on room in the freighter is a good bonus too.

Yes, Subs to 5. Also, dont ignore the Strategic Cruisers to 4. I never thought it would matte, but the difference in burnout is actually stupidily worth pushing them to 4.

Hell, looking at it all. I would really do Heavy Interdictors. That is just me though. =)

Interesting, you're about 5mill sp ahead of me and doing all the same stuff :D
I've yet to do Caldari BS 5 and a few missile bits, but like you I've focussed my pvp char entirely on subcaps.

I tend to agree with you about HAC 5 - for the Ishtar anyway; T2 sentries reign supreme on that boat and they don't receive the HAC drone damage bonus since they're not "proper drones" (whatever that means). Being able to stick three sets of them in your drone bay is nice, but hardly vital. The 5km control range bonus is good, but a shiny Black Eagle DLA can more than compensate. That all said, the Sac, Zealot & Muninn all benefit very nicely from HAC 5 thank you very much.

Logistics 5 is worth considering, not least because you get 15% + 10% or another 15% bonuses per level which go a long way toward cap stability. That said, "perfect logi pilots" are two-a-penny and are often spotted skulking around Incursion systems peddling their wares. So if it's for epeen I wouldn't bother.

I'm curious as to why you haven't gone anywhere near dictors & HICs though. You could train both to level 4 inside 10 days. The Onyx for example has an outrageous tank for its hull class (An all-T2 fit with 160k ehp anyone? Or a 1250dps T2 omni-tank?). It's also very satisfying to decloak at a wormhole and light up a 20km bubble which instantly announces "Me HIC, you dead and so's your pod". Dictors are tricky to fly effectively and have their own strange but entertaining niche. But both ship types are somthing you should definitely consider if you live in/plan to go to w-space or null.

It's been mentioned, but I second this - training at least one Strat Cruiser subsystems set to 5. Make it the Proteus only if you want an awesomesauce cloaky PvP heavy tackler. The other T3s are more versatile. My personal favourite is the Legion. I like shiny stuff, and it's the shiniest, goldest thing in Eve. The Tengu is ofc the most insanely OP'd boat out there. FYI, training all 5 subsystems for one T3 from scratch, with your current perc/will remap and +4 implants, will take you just over 24 days. Worth every second. T3's are absulotely fun to fly and mess about with. They really come into their own when you're max skilled, and the added piquancy of possibly actually LOSING skillpoints if your ship dies in a fire.. well, it's extra spice :)

There are only 2 reasons to ever train Gallente carrier:
1) Nyx
2) 0.0 carebearing (sanctums etc)

For all other stuff the Gallente carrier is actually the worst carrier out there, it's just not your role to deal dps and it doesn't have anything else going for it. Definitely go with Amarr carrier here.

I agree mostly to the replies here but 'Bibosikus' stated that 'T2 sentries reign supreme on that boat and they don't receive the HAC drone damage bonus since they're not "proper drones" (whatever that means).'

This ofc is utter rubbish, they most certainly do get the bonus.

Nice charactor.

Considering when Dominion was introduced. It's actually quiet mindblowing how many people still think that carrier DPS generally still represent any real importance.

Large Rail Spec 4 is in the queue. Might as well; it's my last spec floating down at 3.

I'd forgotten about jump freighter requirements, so yeah, freighter 4 suddenly makes sense, especially if I'm going to invest in jump skills anyhow.

My reasoning behind Gal Carrier (which I'm not sold on, mind) was indeed for the PvE option. But realistically I'm never sticking this character in a Nyx and the other carriers aren't that far behind for PvE, so it's likely a bad idea.

And yes, I'm quite aware of how sentries work with ship skills. I think they were the first T2 weapon system I maxed, actually.

And I'm still dithering on HIC/dictor. At this rate I suppose I might as well go for it just to have the option open. It's not like I'd be taking them to 5, so the time investment isn't even that substantial.

Thanks again. Looks like I'm stuck on per/will for another sixish months, but that's not unexpected at all.
