So guys,

First off, I want everyone to understand that this is not a troll, this is indeed a real suggested idea, in which I have thought about it only a little, and decided that it might just work. I am "putting it out there" because I feel that unless you have attempted to fix a problem or have a hand in fixing it, you are not allowed to ***** about it. (see entries on arm seat quarterbacking, and backseat driving)

Ok, so CCP has learned a very valuable lesson, and that in "new eve" money can not balance the game, back in the day (I remember the first BC running around like a titan), players were not as rich and it was far easier to balance the game via isk, because there were not so many ways to make money, and frankly the game had not generated as much money as it has now.

So, now what we have here is an arms race between alliances, where one alliance who has built up, a large amount of SCs is able to control the ability for anyone else to build and deploy super carriers. (see entries on nuclear arms wars)

Super carriers frankly are far to super, what EVE has deployed for the current version, is a more like a tech 2 carrer, and not a tier two carrier. (see the difference between other tiered ships, like the geddon, and the abaddon) I know that we all know this, and that I am stating the obvious, so my proposed fix to this is two:

First one:
Take "Super Carriers" down several notches, I dont really know how current SC pilots and investments would be "repaid" but these things should not be so much stronger then normal carriers, simply put a super carrier should be the offensive version of carrier. Let them keep fighter bombers, ditch their ability to remote rep, and their immunity to e warfare, and basically bring their ehp closer to normal carriers...also let them dock, there should not be such a large gap between a tier two ship and a tier one ship (please not I am not talking about tech but instead tier), this leaves the future open for redeploying the "mother ship" as a tech 2 carrier, that is a combined type of offensive and defensive abilities (like a tech 2 ship should be) when of course they can truly balance such a powerful ship.

A great example of this is the difference between the two command ships, one is met to be offensive, and one is met to be defensive. I know that these are tech 2 ships, but the carrier ideal should follow the command ship ideal to almost the T.

One is about gang bonuses, adsorbing more damage, and remote repping, one is about dropping as much DPS as possible, even if they are a bit fragile when compared to their defensive brothern. Im not going to go into details about numbers, or specifics because I do not have any idea of how CCP goes about balancing stuff, but regardless of which the Super carrier, needs a very large scale back, to leave room for a tier two one, and also to cut down on the arms race.

So basically, what I am saying is make current SCs, offensive versions of normal carriers, scaling them like they were only a tier two carrier, and that they are a tech two carrier.


Second:
Allow NPC ships to fill the gap, allow an FC to hire these ships from a station, cost is based on a new set of skills, standing with the station they are hiring from, and what kind of ships they want to hire. As with anything in eve money should be able to buy your way to a specific point, look at faction stuff over tech two stuff, often it rewards the rich for not having the skills, in this case it rewards the rich for not having the players, and is right in line with the "fight fire with fire", obviously there would need be restrictions in place to allow such a thing to work right and now cause a **** ton of lag, or whatever, but I think given proper planning it would be a great feature, and would mean that an FCs skill set would come in play more then "Hes just my fc/booster alt" because now an FC could fill gaps in his fleet via npcs....

how control of these would go I do not know, one could only assume that they would just do what the FC does, kind of like drones that can use stargates in a way? Like I said I dont know how control would work thats up to CCP, I am not a game designer (Though if your hiring, let me know hehe).

Anyway guys, I got my flame proof suite on so troll away!

my issue with your idea is, super carriers would

A, drop in price, meaning all those folks with them are now **** outa luck
B moar super carriers will be around. the only limit on them atm the inability to dock
C titans will now be the only undockable super cap. ( thiscould be a good thing)


if u nerf SC too much, u have to nerf the material cost, if u do that, u nerf the value, andsomeone who just spend 20bil on a ship will not be happy.

Agree with your above point, and if you look above I also mention I dont know how to work out a fairness policy... personally I think that you could simply return the materials that it took to build the super carrier along with a BPC for the new one to the player who last piloted the ship... simple fix.. maybe a hack of sorts.. but yeah value would drop a fair amount of people would be ****ed.. but you know what at least I would bother showing up for large 0.0 conflict again.
