Thorax should also be fine against Hulks.

I used 3 target painters in the mids. But I notice you recommend two tracking mods in the lows and 3 tracking CPUs in the mids. As I'm pretty new to either trackers or painters, what is the relative benefit of these modules you are suggesting (eg vs painters or anything else)?

Doesn't the use of two low slots for those modules mean that we can't have two extra mag stabs, and so this would reduce our dps?

Also, if speed is zero at optimal as another poster suggested, are tracking mods or painters even useful at all?

Target painters are pretty useless if you don't have missiles.I don't think the target's sig radius helps your guns. I do think they affect your drones, but better track computers to get you to guns track better (every bit helps). Now, target painters are not completely useless to you. And, if target is standing still (and do are you) they'd help little. Still, it may be possible the Hulk/mack may move during the attack, and every bit of tracking then helps.

Damage mods stack. Meaning, after 3 dmg mods, bonus is pretty insignificant.
Had you been ganking on a gate, I'd recommend different mods than tracking mods (I'd recomend tank) but since you are doing it on a belt, tracking mods is the way to go.

Hybrid blasters tracking sucks (which is why you don't see them much in 0.0 combat) so, as I shown you in the picture I posted I below, you need to minimize the loss of tracking as much as possible.

If you and the target are stationary, then tracking is perfect and you will hit for 103% of EFT damage. So you only need tracking mods - painter, tracking computer/enhancer or web - if he (or you) starts to move. Of those three types of tracking mods, webs are by far the most powerful. The tracking computers are actually the weakest - with any level of Signature Focusing, a painter will yield a greater increase in tracking than a tracking-scripted tracking computer.

You should also fit a scrambler - a target will rarely even attempt to warp out, and even rarer will actually succeed. But if it does try to warp out, it will start to accelerate, creating transversal and causing a loss of applied DPS.

So sit stationary at optimal and deploy T1 drones. Fit four damage mods in low (the boost from the fourth is small but worthwhile, only when you get to five is it getting negligible), and a scrambler and cheap webs in med. Ship-scan targets beforehand, a very few may still fit faction shield boosters.

Lol @ the NPC-corp alts in here calling you the coward Rolling Eyes

Op .. I completely understand where you come from. I've PVP'd in highsec, lowsec, null and WH space and of all those things, I don't think any touch the sudden rush of excitement you get when you're waiting to see if that final blow will hit the target and pop it YARRRR!!

I got so addicted to suicide ganking, I took myself from 3.2 to -2.4 in about 4 hours... But that included a pod kill. Guy was smacking in local just before this, so I really couldn't help myself.

I'm not sure what went wrong with your attempt with the Thrasher, but it really is quite awesome at popping Retrievers. Few to no people tank them, and the first volley will put them into low armour, with structure bleed sometimes.

You say your cycle time was ~10seconds? It sounds like you may need to train rapid firing a bit more.

A maxed out Thrasher, guns overheated, should get a 6.6second re-fire time with 2 gyrostabs in the lows.

I fit mine as:

7x280mm IIs

warp disruptor I
stasis webifier x 2

gyro x 2

I have the offensive modules set F1-F4, click all 4 whilst it is locking, then click "Yes, ALLAHU AKBAR AWAY!" when it asks. Set the top rack to overloaded as soon as you undock, in case you forget.

If you ever find yourself a little short on damage for a gank at hand ... look me up in game. I'd be happy to lend a Thrasher / Ruppie / Cane to the task ugh

Thank you Rikeka and Gypsio for the info re painters/trackers etc. I have much to learn...

Khanh'rhh: thanks also for the advice. If I may ask - what region(s) do you tend to exercise your ganking addiction in?

Essentially you're looking for populated systems that are 0.5 or 0.6. Plenty in Minmitar space (Hek and surrounds) and certain areas in Lonetrek.
I live in WHspace .. so I basically just come out, check the map, then head for victimsYARRRR!!
I've only just regained my sec status enough to start up again. This time I will try to balance it out so I don't break the annoying -2 mark.

Chuck me a convo request ingame if you see me on .. I don't mind making a few jumps :)

I had an amusing experience. Taking your advice, I fitted up a Catalyst (I'm getting short on ISK) and set the autopilot for Ardallabier. In the middle of this journey, I found myself in the Bleak Lands in a system with a few belts and decided to do a scan. Found a Retriever! (which I then ganked)...

Then in my pod, I continued the warps to Ardallabier. Indeed, as you say, from scanning/warping in my pods, we've got several Hulks, an Orca, and a Covetor in that system - certainly a mining hangout although the sec rating is 0.7, so I think any ganks would have to be alpha strikes...

I'll later log and pass you some ISK, at least enough to ready some gank cruisers. Mind you, ignore Retrievers. Stick with Macks/Hulks, so you can least get some ISK back selling the mods.

If your low on isk do this same thing on a trading route against industrial ships in BCs. Scan the ships before going after them then scoop any loot and sell in jita or other trade hubs for profit. Now your a real pirate.

Its hilarious reading this as I so know the feeling of just wanting to kill things rather than be on the other end with indy toons.Twisted Evil

Don't mind the haters in this thread, haters gonna hate.

The Scottish Fold commends you on your noble quest to liberate those poor downtrodden miners from the yoke of industry and the tyranny of the Veldspar bourgeois. Its revolutionaries and freedom fighters like us who can help free those poor miners from an environment of constant oppression and exploitation. PRAISE THE SCOTTISH FOLD!!

Having a alt with a Orca full of gank ships becomes incredibly useful once you hit outlaw status.

There are 2 ice belts in Wuos, both of which are riddled with macks.
