So I really like gallente ships, colors, drones, and I want to go this route. Now I understand the place hybrid turrets are at. I really do... Now the obvious choice is to avoid this path at all costs. But I was wondering if some where down the line I could do as well of in a level 4 as other races. Or if I should take my second favorite path and just work toward a nightmare / paladin.

I am open to going winmatard and caldari (amarr's red neck cousins) "hold my quafe while i launch nuclear ordinance at this." I have read some older threads and they all end up with tengu +1000, macheriel +750, and nightmare +sansha incursion destroyah. I have zero desire to fly a tengu however. And the other two are a long ways away in training to pilot properly. What have you guys seen that works for you in level 4's and what can do it the fastest?

P.S. I am interested in doing incursions as I hear its great isk/hr.

mega/vindi are fine for incursion specially OTAs since its a pretty close range fights under 20km

If you are silly enough to want to continue the path of hybrids, then you need to train up the vindicator and go run vanguards in incursions. Shield or armor, doesn't matter, the vindi can work well for both. In the interim, you can scuzz by with a shield hyperion or an armor megathron. Here you have the advantage of the great DPS of blasters without everything outranging you too excessively, but to be completely honest the hyperion/megathron don't really hold a candle to the vindicator, due soley to that sexy web strength bonus (aka, the one reason to actually use one).

As for running lvl 4 missions, the best bet is to go with the dominix+sentries/heavies. The domi gives you the advantage of AFK running missions when you don't have much time to devote to the game but still want to make isk, and the closest thing to a mach/nightmare in the missioning line with the shield tanked 1100+dps fits. If you are anti-shoe however, you can get by with a kronos (the only semi-decent railboat in the lineup), though you can't really expect to compete with mach's/nightmares on this count, and the hyperion works okish in the interim, though it does have fitting issues. The mega can work ok, but unless you are faction out the wazoo you are barely doing better than a domi with only sentries and 2 damage rigs, and not using guns.

So in conclusion, you can stick to blasters if you run incursions, though you will suffer in lvl 4's if you ever go back to them. But if you want the best, most well rounded character you really should train up for either a nightmare or a mach.

You do realize that just because a ship has a bonus for something does NOT mean that you MUST utilize the bonus right?

So, you like Gallente asthetics, drones, and realize that blasters might just not be your thing (atm). Well, did you ever look into using the gallente ships that have bonuses for as many of those criteria as possible? Myrmidon pop into you're findings for instance?

Train up projectiles, and toss them on a Dominix. "But then I'm not using one of the ships bonuses!" Who cares, projectiles still work on the ship regardless, and it fits the rest of your criteria (lvl 4 mission whoring, can do incursions and even pvp if you find yourself in it).

TL;DR: The only person that can force you to use hybrids is you.

This.

My L4 Dominix has 800mm Autos, works just fine. Nice for the close-range angel BS, and the guns use ZERO cap, with the ability to switch ammo types.

Also, don't let people discourage you from flying Gallente. I also love the looks of the Gallente ships. The weapon system sucks, which is why I use a different weapon system. Fly what you want to fly. It is a game, and it's supposed to be enjoyable after all. Very Happy

if you like drones, you could get into a Rattlesnake. They're cheaper than other pirate faction BS and have a good nice tank while dishing out pretty good dps.
