After I read the updated 1.1 incarna "patch" notes I remembered reading the following.

Originally by: CCP Veritas
CarbonIO has not been turned on for the client as yet, but since the client doesn't sling packets for a living that's not a big deal. It will need to be activated before BlueNet is leveraged at all, so you can expect it to happen before the multi-player Incarna release.

So its clear that until the CarbonIO is introduced there will be no establishments. Since this was the only real improvement in eve on this patch, we can now say that truly, this was not a true update but a bugfix.

Clearly CCP isn't ready to release even the code that should pave the way for multiplayer environements, let alone the environements themselves. I shudder to think what will happen when these things go live without any live testing.

UM... The CarbonIO devblog left me impression that this technology will play quite major role in reducing lag.

I believe that it was pretty much best thing in this patch, which is afterall patch - not expansion.

Since CarbonIO won't really have much of an impact on client performance until multiplayer Incarna environments are released, it doesn't matter much when CCP turns on CarbonIO in the client. I'd much rather they take the time to make sure that CarbonIO works properly in the live client, than have to deal with a bunch of truly game-breaking bugs.

As far as the content of the 1.1 patch goes, there is a reason it's a 1.1 patch, and isn't a named expansion, since patches are supposed to contain bug fixes, and not major new features. As far as I'm concerned, it's good that CCP continues to release bug fixes and minor tweaks in between major expansions, even if I don't usually use the functions that are being fixed.

Just because you find something useless doesn't mean that others will feel the same way. While I'm not particularly interested in EVE Gate stuff at the moment, I'm sure it will be useful to someone.

The problem is that it doesn't contain much of that either. It really shouldn't be a 1.1 patch, but rather something along the lines of 1.0.5.

For comparison, observe Trinity 1.1, RMR 1.1 or, hell, something as recent as Incursion 1.1.

The thing is, you'd better get interested very soon, because you'll be forced to used it once it goes live.

For what? Could you elaborate a bit, please.
