I am training as a combat character, and expect to mostly be training gunnery/shields/engineering, and things of that nature over the next six months. I already have a pretty good idea of what I am going to be training based off an Evemon plan.

Given what I have read about attributes in passing, I do not believe the 20/20/20 etc. attribute setup that you start out with is the best plan. However, I am uncertain about what exactly my remap should look like.

Do you have any suggestions?

Also, what implants should I be looking to acquire early-on to assist me?

A general optimization for newer players is focusing on Perception and Intelligence, as they are the primary attributes used in the skills that newer players are focusing on (Gunnery, Support Skills, Nav skills, etc).

As far as implants go, it really depends. If you are primarily in High Sec, buy as high as you can get, as you will rarely be podded. If you spend any amount of time in Null Or Low Sec, be aware that you will get podded from time to time.

If you have the ISK, it is definately worth it to at least get +3s in the four main attributes, +4s or +5s if you can afford it, and will not be getting podded anytime soon.

Make a plan with EVEmon and click on the optimize attributes button. You will need your API key to import your characters.

Otherwise I've found 23i 21p 21m 17w 17c works well for most any new characters.
